You joke, but there’s a chance that Poeltl could be involved in a Phoenix deal:

Toronto: Johnson, Poeltl, Phoenix 2023 and 2027 firsts
San Antonio: Saric, Okogie, Phoenix 2025 first
Phoenix: OG

I’ll leave out my thoughts about that package overall but that is very close financially.

Seems like SAS wants minimum 2 firsts for Poeltl. Very hard to see the Suns spend that much for OG unless those picks are heavily protected.

Lmaoo who is saying they want to trade him, you're joking right? Everyone or most people want Fred gone and OG to stay. The only comments I've seen are with respect to OG wanting out. If he wants out I think people are right to want to maximize his returns even though they probably want him here.

It has to be the Scottie timeline if we're moving OG.

I mean that’s what I would do, just not convinced this is what Masai and Bobby do.

If OG is moved, there is a good chance we attach some other assets (or not) and solve some of issues (half court offense) regardless of what their age is .

These guys want to build winning rosters. Like their philosophy is to build winning cultures.

The man flat out denied asking out. But alright, I just strongly doubt he's unhappy with his role given that he's been given every opportunity.

I mean didn't the FO say they aren't taking calls right now, then rumour that they are taking calls takes over as fact the next day? I dunno. Eveyrone WANTS to beleive he wants out seemingly.

And it's a 20 page thread, there's a lot of people seemginly!

If we're spending 2 firsts, I'd much rather have your guy. Peotl is wildly overrated. Plus we have a center. I am somewhat surprised that Ayton isn't involved in these talks. You guys need a big to balance out your team. That said, Cam Johnson is 1 of the league's best shooters.

They have Ayton, Booker, Bridges, and then OG so excessive picks will be needed because a bunch in the low 20s isn't getting us anywhere. We could be setting up a potential dynasty for them.

In order to win an OG deal we need quality picks back that we could turn into a better player. Similar to the SGA and George trade.

Even though I think both players are not worth their demands, honestly I would rather pay OG 30 Mil/yr than Fred.

OG only wants out because he needs to maximize his next contract. No team other than the Raps would give him a $30Mil + /year contract unless he shows he can be a number one or two option and performs well with more touches and minutes. That is the whole reason OG wants out, he cant showcase what he thinks he could possibly show skillwise here. The reality is there is no team loyalty in the NBA anymore and even the desire to win championships comes way after maximising ones financial fortunes.

Tanking in this league is so painful. Doesn't even matter what they get for OG, it bores me to tears. Sprinkle load mgmt on top and the product is unwatchable. I don't remember it ever being like that but maybe i was just stupid and naive lol

Raptors management don't want Sharp they made that clear since they didn't make the deal at the draft. Ben Math was the guy they wanted but he didn't fall to Portland so no deal for OG

Portland isn't waiting for Sharpe to put together his game and letting Dame age out of the league. The Suns are trying to get Paul his last chance at a championship. All Masai needs to do is pit those two franchises into a bidding war.

I’m sure that’s what you want. I’m not sure that’s what will happen.

Fans would rather keep Sharpe in the hope that he becomes the next Blazer star than trade him for a high end roleplayer who wants more shots.

I'll believe an OG trade when I see it. Masai has had stars in his eyes for him his whole career. The rumor about him wanting a bigger role would have to be only the half of it behind the scenes. He gets 20% usg and 36 mpg here, does he want 30% and 40mpg?

You have to take the calls on him in case someone wants to give a Rudy Gobert godfather offer. I'd hope he wouldn't be traded for less, he's a good fit next to Scottie.

I don't see OG getting traded at all. If it does happen it's because he wanted out.

So was Masai a coward in 2021?

That was just a confluence of COVID, Tampa, injury situation they took advantage of.

Start rationalizing about how this season aint a tank either. It's coming whether people like it or not

LOL Raptors might tank the rest of this season.

They will not tank any more than that.

I don't see them moving Sharpe either.

You need some form of hope alive within the fanbase and Sharpe is that, regardless if he ends up being a JR Smith type player or a future all star.

Sophomore OG in the year Kawhi was on the team, wanted to be in the starting unit and closing unit and was not satisfied in his role. Years later, the same feeling has been expressed except on a much less deep team. He wants the role, leading to the big bucks while he enters his earning prime.

Agreed.

I think he will end up somewhere between JR Smith and Zach Levine. Not bad, and possibly very good.

Its not just about usage. Its about being featured as one of the best players on the team. He wants as many minutes or more than Scottie. That is the issue, Scottie coming in, had put him on the back burner visually for league. If GM’s are asked who are Toronto’s best two assets, they would majority say its Pascal and Scottie. OG wants the bag and wants to show he is worth getting the bag. Fred gets minutes cause hes the only legit PG option, its why he signed his last deal with us because he knew he can showcase for his next contract which he wants a near max contract, same with OG but he doesnt get the minutes or touches that Fred gets.

Yeah, we don't know until we know for a fact I think it's just based off the multiple rumors that OG may be wanting out or raptors are not willing to extend him for the amount he's looking for which is why there are rumors with his name in the first place don't think it could be any other case. I personally want him to stay unless we're getting the better end of the deal long term. Right now, there are a lot of teams fighting for playoffs positions and adding OG could be the difference in getting a ship or not.

OG + fillers for Ayton + Pick
Fvv for Suggs + fillers
Re-sign Trent

Suggs
Trent
Barnes
Siakam
Ayton

Start sitting guys randomly so we can add a top 5 pick in 2023 to the above and we are good to go.

He is injured/hurt multiple times every single year. He has this year and next year on his deal and teams are salivating to acquire him. The time is now to say peace out to OG. The Raptors could have a bidding war on their hands for him and walk away with a Dejounte Murray + type of package. Get it done Ujiri/Bobby.

Ayton does not seem to care much about basketball, but is huge and gets paid an insane amount of money to do so and he complies. Suggs does not have a position and appears to not have a single NBA skill other then not being a wasteman on defense I suppose. This is literally the worst case scenario I could even pretend to dream up. Bravo sir.

Return to Toronto Raptors
