It's a 2 year deal too, don't think I've seen that for a 2-way deal.
Not bad given his age. I think that's 15 guarantees headed to camp now.

It's been at 15 for a while. 2-ways don't take up a roster spot.
No room for JFL at this point. Wonder why they're still keeping his contract.

July 23 is the next date where JFL will get $150K more guaranteed unless they drop him so my guess is they'll waive him after the SL unless he becomes summer league MJ. If they still like him, they'll eat the $150K and invite him to training camp and Oct 22 is the next date to guarantee $800K...then Jan 10/25 is the date where his $1.9M is fully guaranteed.

But three two-ways are allowed above the 16 man roster. So we have one spot left.

That would have been the reasoning behind drafting him versus signing him as a UDFA. Maybe they just wanted to get the player and then have some options on what to do. Seems likely that they had some internal debate which would explain why his deal took so much longer than everyone else's to complete.

The Raps see potential with him and they paid a pretty small price to gain control over the situation.

That's not usually how it works. There's no real pick sniping at the end of the draft. When it gets that late, agents are matching their players up with their preferred fit and will tell other teams not to draft them. It's the player picking the team at that point.

You can tell teams not to draft them, but teams don't have to listen.
