Raptors Send:
Barbosa
Peja
Miami 1st
Bucks Send:
Redd
CDR
Toronto clears Barbosas salary next year. Gain someone young in CDR
Bucks go all out. They could retrade Peja by himself but they add a backup PG/SG which is where he would play and I think they become extremely deadly
Jennings / Barbosa / Boykins
Salmons / Barbosa / Dooling
Delfino / Maggette / Peja
Ersan / Moute / Brockman
Bogut / Gooden / Sanders
Maybe trade Peja to get a PF/C and I think you have a team that can take Boston in a 7 game series
Calderon / Bayless
Derozan / Weems / Redd
CDR / Klezia / Wright
Johnson / Davis / Evans
Bargnani / Dorsey / Alabi
Pretty nice young team. Has max cap room next year I also think it makes us slightly worse this year making our pick better
My dream offseason would be:
- Draft Harrison Barnes
- Sign Marc Gasol: max contract, 5 years. Doubt Memphis matches
- re-sign Sonny Weems only has 1 million cap hold
Calderon / Bayless
Derozan / Weems
Barnes / Klezia
Bargnani / Davis
Gasol / Johnson / Alabi
+ fill out team with minimums. How exciting and fun would that team be. You have a all around solid young up and coming group
A max offer may make Memphis think twice
Hmm sorry but why are we trading Miami's first pick and Barbosa essentially for CDR and more cap space? Barbosa has been quite useful, and the first round pick is always good for a rebuilding team. Frankly I doubt we can sign Gasol outright since the Grizz seem to make him a priority signing, and he is a RFA. Raptors will really have to over pay for Gasol. I am okay with trading Barbosa for a more useful player like Mayo. CDR is a pass for me at this point.
The ideas on this board are hilarious. I'm completely baffled. I can't understand people's obsession with cap space and the crazy moves they'll do to get it. When was the last time T.O has reeled in a player via free agency that was worth all the trades people are saying we should make? Watching the Raptors this season, I think BC has done a great job of bringing in players who nobody thought was anything through experience, PT and talent are making something of themselves. Julian Wright and Bayless (always been a fan of) are good examples. What I suggest look at players who have high upside and/or will contribute to the team without taking on TOO MUCH salary. Players we should look at are as follows:
Jeff Green
OJ Mayo
Greg Oden
Thabeet
Andre Iguodala
What they have in common is their future with their current teams are uncertain. This is our time to make some moves. I like Marc Gasol and think he's a good player but to be honest, our chances of getting him are VERY slim or we overpay him. I don't want to over pay anyone right now at all. That said, our positions of need are SF (that can create, pass and shoot long range), PG (somewhat....hopefully solved though the draft) and C (that rebounds and plays good D). At the same time, we want our draft pick to be higher so we need to wait a bit (unless any of those players are mentioned in serious talks). If we make moves, it should be for one of these guys as they will come in and turn things around for us for sure. Personally, I make a run at Green before Iggy because of how the numbers work out and how much he might be coveted around the league.
