Raps 2020 Picks (Prospect Watch, Update: Vecenie Mock Released)

Masai has made 5 first round selections for the Raptors which includes Bruno, Wright, Poeltl, Siakam, OG.

Wright, Poeltl, OG were all popular picks for us.

OG was the surprise one though. Wright and Poeltl maybe. but nonetheless this is why I trust Masai if the Raptors tanked lol if the Raptors stock farmed picks in the right draft, (2021?) Raptors could easily rebuild literally 1 year with high ceiling, superstar level talent again.

I feel Wright and Poeltl are Casey's picks.

Meanwhile, we high high ceiling players in Siakam, OG and Davis, and at #29, there are high ceiling (raw) players available down to 2nd round, so I am unsure why we need to tank? I think we have a great development system, and the stacked 2021 and 2022 draft would allow us to pick a high potential ones to develop them further.

Raptors are still on the up and up. DiVincenzo, Wilson and expiring Ilyasova netted sign and trade Bogdanovic! Just keep hitting on picks and build up the stable of prospects.

I don't think the Raps are necessarily inflexible with their drafting, but if they do have a proclivity, it seems to lean towards successful upperclassmen with sterling advanced numbers. So if I had to make a prediction, it would be Payton Pritchard.

"The ball was in his hands 90% of the time and for him, it was just about making the right play and the right read," Acker said. "He began to evolve into that guy that would always make the right decision."

Off the ball, Flynn is still a dynamic scorer, Acker said. He can score from anywhere on the court and averaged 2.4 3-pointers a game on 6.4 attempts.

"Malachi is the kind of guy who could have averaged 30 points a game in college," Acker said. "So the fact that he understood that making others better on the court and that he needed to make winning plays for us to be successful and then the willingness to lock in on scouting reports and lock in on utilizing his quickness and his God-given talents to really cause havoc on the defensive end, I think was just unbelievable to watch him do that last year."

He does seem like he could score like Markus Howard.

Just by looking at the list shot creation, defensive skill and compete level are the main factors in the players that have either worked out or interviewed.

Based on workout, it is hard to predict. For example, Patrick Williams said he only got workout from Chicago, and Chicago has other players worked out for them. This draft could be up and down. I am not surprised someone from the first half drops to the bottom half.

As for the Raptors, it would be interesting to know who are the remaining players we worked out with. Are we finding a hidden player that is not ranked on mock drafts? I guess one more day to tell.

When Tolzman said they have 50 players that they like for either pick it tell you how flat/deep the draft is. There's a rotation player available throughout the draft it's finding which one best fits the Raptors system. Now the workouts could be looked at seeing how has the prospect grown since they last saw them in live action. For interviews they want to know a bit more about the mentality of that prospect, who knows but we know that Raptors love players who defend, have great advanced stats and are athletic to a degree.

Funny that Toronto could not be confirmed or denied. I watched that interview he did with True Hoop and he basically said that he was given a promise. He said, "it is a secret."

Whether it is Toronto remains to be scene, but I do like the kid. He has good size and strength and is a high level athlete. I just think he duplicates what Toronto has in Terence Davis.

As much as I hope we make some sort of a deal tomorrow to try to move up and get a higher end prospect, I don’t see it happening. Masai practically never pulls the trigger on draft night trades even when he works hard to get a deal. It’s just not his MO. He only will make a deal if he knows he’s fleecing the other team.

I can see Davis being traded for a second round pick. Maybe some other team doesnt care about the court case, but I dont think the Raptors will play him a single minute until his court case is over.
