Lowry is a good player.
At the time I thought the Bargnani and Turkoglu deals were stupid, and I was obviously right.

I thought they were stupid as well but here's the thing... Hedo just came off his best year with Orlando as well as a boardline AllStar (Notice The Similarity)... All the fans were saying...

-We got the #1 free agent target in the offseason
-Toronto has arrived, we can sign Top Free Agents

5-6 years later we are talking the same things about us as a destination

I hear posters say all the time...
-Masai reads realgm
-Players read realgm
-Reporters read realgm

If that is the case please notice the power we have... If the majority of this board were to say 9-11m & no higher, believe me Masai, Kyle (or at least his agent), & Reporters would take notice... By saying we don't mind 12-13m we are helping enable that situation & then when it goes wrong we become the biggest hypocrites on the planet...

Did you really think this thought was unique enough that it warranted its own thread outside of the other Lowry threads where your viewpoint is currently being discussed along with many intelligent, thought-out opposing viewpoints to this very topic?

He's an injury prone player and this kinda feels like Calderon circa 2008 all over again. Calderon was actually 26 when we signed him to that huge deal so they are around the same age also (Lowry is 28 right now).

Im expecting around 11 million per year.

go away.

Not like we got threads for this topic, but I can tell you are the guy that prefers 10 1st rounders to actually having a good, fun, exciting, playoff team.

GTFO fool. He's our leader, the heartbeat of this team. And stop counting other people's money, that ain't a good look bruh.

Do you regret giving up your modly locking powers?
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

TS% last 3 years:

56%
54%
57%

I'd hardly call that skyrocketing.

It in itself would not be a catastrophe. But overpay 5 players by 2 mil each and now you can see the problems that begin to emerge. Maybe that would not happen, but the 12/13 range for Lowry would make me start to be concerned.

To build a team like MU appears to be doing requires *both* smart picks and smart cap management, with little wiggle room for error.

Typical Raptor fanbase who can never think rationally, this right here is why you guys always get disappointed and angry at players.

You guys seriously think Lowry will live up to a 11 million per year contract when he is 32 to 33 years old.

Give me a break.

I understand the post, but we have no choice. He's the heart of the team. I have a feeling he will be injured a lot too. But maybe we get lucky and he becomes a Billups type of player (matures later in his career and proves himself to be a winner)

He hasn't even been signed and you already have buyer's remorse.

And if we don't sign him, we probably won't make the playoffs and will have to watch a year of Casey giving Valanciuanas, Ross, Bebe, and Caboclo limited minutes despite sucking

This is a town that convinced itself Dion freakin' Phaneuf, leader of one of the worst defences in the league, is worth the third highest defenceman's salary, largely on the basis that "when the salary cap goes up his relative cap hit will be lower", as if that makes any sense whatsoever. Overpaying Lowry won't be an issue.

Lowry will get paid. He will get paid more than many here think he is worth, just like every other contract this team signs other than Tyler H and rookie deals. I won't mind. Lowry is a star or on the verge of being a star, and stars command a premium. Just avoid overpaying the role players and we'll be fine.

lmao.

Man... whatever happened to reporters REPORTING the news as opposed to speculating about it and then qualifying after generating buzz. Drives me crazy what the industry has turned into. These **** predictions are self-serving. Just give us the facts or stay silent until you can.

And he should not be afforded wiggle room, Masai is a high profile and highly paid GM, who replaced the outgoing high profile, highly paid GM because the last guy couldn't manage.
