It would need to be a complete salary dump and I’m betting they want actual assets for Herro to pass onto Portland.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Funny how Dame asks out after Grant got paid huge contract. These guys are something else.

Scottie gonna kill it this year and a lot of these posts are gonna look bad in retrospect.

Can't wait to see what he looks like with a new coach and no Fred.

The Barnes hate is hilarious. It's mostly Fred stans and a few of his pre-draft haters who didn't want to admit they were wrong about him.

Something tells me that Jerami Grant's going back on to the free agent market soon. I can't imagine Portland wanting to pay that kind of money if Dame is gone and Grant wouldn't want to stick around anyways...

He’ll just wait until trade deadline and Clippers will take him for expirings. No team but Portland could offer him 5 years. He’s not backing out of an extra 40 million when he’s 34.

This is probably because you don't have a good grasp on Dame's value. Which is okay but the long and short of it is Dame won't yield a haul.

But then the point remains why cant a team like us just outbid the crappy offer for Dame?

OG is better than anything the Heat are offering up. Most fans would just be upset if Portland accepted the poo poo platter from Miami.

Soooooo its starting to look like portland strung him along a bit.

“Awww we tried so hard to trade sharpe, darn!”

“Im as surprised as you are that nobody’s ponying up for scoot”

“Ooooh noooo, darn, you want a trade…. Were selling you to the highest bidder”.

They can’t back out of the contract, optics and downstream ramifications would be awful. They’ll try and trade him next offseason. And it’s not like he’s going to hurt their tank. Putting up empty calories on a trash team is Grant’s specialty at this point.

I could probably get behind moving Scottie for Dame. It's become apparent that we aren't going to build around him, and after his second year, I'm no longer convinced he's a guy to build around anyway. I can't see him being a top 5-10 player in the NBA... maybe not even top 25-30. Under other circumstances I would be fine waiting it out, but seeing him develop into a good second option on a treadmill team is not worth hanging onto. -

If the trade would be Scottie and filler (maybe a 1st and/or some swaps), I'm good with it. Scottie, another good piece, 2-3+ picks and swaps, much less so. So maybe there's no deal. I would consider Scottie to be a better asset than 4-5 late FRP, but the trade market for stars lately seems to be fixated on the quantity of picks, not the quality.

Somewhat ironically, I would have moved everything except Scottie for Scoot - so now that Portland has him, maybe they'll think the same way.

Well I’m sure then you would be the same guy saying to trade Siakam away after his second year in the league because he was so raw and that he can’t possibly become an all star.
raf1995 wrote:I just don’t think he has that kind of potential. I think we will regret not trading him for a haul in a few years when he’s a mid-tier starter with nice playmaking and defense and a shaky jumper.

There is no Barnes hate on this forum. Discussing whether you’d include him in a Dame offer isn’t hate. To be transparent, I wouldn’t do it but I can see why someone would make the argument.

I will say though, I can see a world where this board turns on him in a year if we unfairly put him in position as the main ball handler on the team as some folks here want.

It will be Siakam all over again, where we made him the number 1 option when he wasn’t equipped for it. Guy has been great and should be celebrated by our fans but the role we’ve given him has made made some turn against him.

I dunno man. They came out after draft night and said there was nothing out there that made them championship contenders.

Sounds like they sat at the table and listened, but ultimately If they don’t think Pascal moves the needle, that’s their prerogative.

Ive been suspicious ever since they flipped josh hart.

Hes cheap (seriously, brooks signed for almost double). And basically the perfect 3 and d 2 guard to play off of lillard.

Suspicious i say….suspicious! :-?

Giving up on a player after two seasons seems a bit premature.

Zach Lowe actually kinda alluded to what you mentioned. Both sides wanted to move on, but just didn’t know how to do it.

We got there now lol
