I think 2026 is the year because math.

1996 - won draft lottery (had to give up due to franchise entry rules)
2006 - won draft lottery
2016 - strongest raptors draft ever - Poeltl, Siakam, VV
2026 - ????

3rd worst net rating in the league. Although it's been a tough schedule.

16th in the league if you take out that first Cavs game.

I mean, what is poor Poeltl and Brown jr even doing here at this stage surrounded by players we thought would make up our g-league team?

Bigs are coming back and a lot of playoff / play-in teams could certainly use him. A mid-first round in the next draft for those two to add to this core would be ideal - and help us lose while still developing.

Those teams aren't paying Poeltl and Brown that much money.
And I don't see them hurting the team.

Is our defense alright with Poeltl this season? Clearly not. His DRtg is 117 this season after 3 games, and having Quickley / Barrett back doesn't seem to move up that much in DRtg.

DRTG can easily be improved if the offense improves. Bad offense = less setting your defense opportunities and more transition points for the oppositon.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

And we have played the Cavs Sixers Wolves Nuggets.

And we have played IQ for 1 half, RJ for 1 half, Brown/Olynyk 0 mins, Walter 0 mins, Barnes now hurt, etc.

Honestly, the 1st 4 games have went better than I ever expected all things considered

Next game against Hornets is one of the few we should win in the first 20ish games.
I can still see us losing though with Barnes, IQ, BB out. Hornets have a good young team with a couple of interesting pieces.

Lamelo is putting up 32/7/7 on 47/42/92 splits, kid is crushing it so far, I wouldn't be shocked if we lose.

Already in the bottom 6.

Great start to the tank. Bucks and Pacers will probably pass us as well in the coming weeks.

Quickley is still gonna be out for a lil while and Scottie might miss a few games as well with the eye injury.

We still have the schedule of death and I don't want to jinx anything, but we look poised to be a bottom 5 team after the first 30 games or so which would be an amazing outcome.

Also worth noting that the Blazers are second last in the West, which bodes well for that second round pick we own in the upcoming draft. It'll likely be in the 31-35 range, which would honestly be the equivalent of a 2024 first round pick in the 16-25 range.

I'm starting to be concerned that this team may win too many games for a high pick - we will probably need more injuries & a trade deadline selloff for a successful tank.

Eh I'm not too concerned, the Nuggets were toying with us yesterday, just look how much they turned up the defensive pressure at the end of the game, same thing with the Wolves. Teams aren't really trying their hardest and you can tell, plus with all these injuries I don't think it matters too much. By early December we are probably lucky if we have 8 wins, and if we are so massively below a .500 record by year end, even with a weaker back half of a schedule, I doubt we push too hard for wins. Maybe not bottom 5 bad, but still pretty bad.

On the one hand if Barnes stayed in, even though he wasn't scoring efficiently I think we win that game, on the other hand the injury list feels like a merry go round and i'm not exactly complaining as long as there's nothing long lasting.

Yep. That's the idea of a development year. Minus the injuries preferably... need those reps for our core guys.

Have you been watching any non-Raptors games? This is what the Nuggets and the Wolves look like right now. They weren't playing down to competition, it's how they've been playing, especially the Nuggets.

No, and it’s quite clear when you read some posts here. Thr lack of knowledge of what is happening generally around the nba is troubling at times on this board

Denver is sadly falling apart but they still have the ability to turn it on at the end of the game. And the wolves have been losing by 6 and 7 points to much better teams than us. It's the first few games of the season and they just had a major roster change, spoiler alert, they wont be a .500 team, and they will be a significantly better team than us. Denver is a bit more of a **** show.

I don’t disagree. I was talking about your comment that the Nuggets and the Wolves were toying with us. They weren’t “taking it easy” if that’s what you meant by that. They just look bad right now; Nuggets have no bench and the Wolves struggle to play 4 quarters/close out games.
