Between those two, I always preferred Gilchrist better, Barnes just hasn't displayed a reliable ability to create off the dribble, something that DeMar already has trouble with. So if we're going to run out two, who both look better playing off-ball, we'd need a dynamite PG. I like everything about Gilchrist's game except for his jumper, which is the easiest thing for a player to improve on.
To me, the only questions that remain as far as SFs go are whether Perry Jones can play the position, and who is the better SF between Gilchrist/Miller (right now it's Gilchrist, but Miller has potential as a go-to scoring option, although there are questions about his quickness and mobility after his injury).

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
This is what I thought of the game
Anthony Davis - Was invisible for the game in terms of rebounding and blocking shots likely due to the size of UNC with Tyler Zeller and Josh Henson. Played good man on man and team defense (Ex. when the ball would be at the corner he would come over and trap). Excellent understanding for team defense. Forced Zeller to lose grip of the ball in the post many times. Or maybe Zeller has hands of stone?
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - Love his game. Can straight plain out ball. Needs to develop a three-point shot, though he's not afraid to take the shot when open. Seems confident in his game which is important for a young player at his age. Can lock-down his opponent hence Barnes shooting 5/17 from the field, handle the ball and play make (had a nasty lob pass for Anthony Davis over two defenders), active on both sides of the glass and smart decisive slasher. Good on and off ball player. Has excellent decision making; notices cuts really well. He reminds me of Rudy Gay coming outta UConn which I would love to have on the Raptors.
Terrence Jones - Became a non-factor in the second-half. Plays a like PF rather than a SF. Likes to face-up and put the ball on the floor like Bosh. Had a nasty two-handed flush.
Marquis Teague - Played okay on the defensive end by pressuring the ball, but was garbage in other areas. With his athleticism I expect a lot more out of him. He should had destroyed Kendall Marshall on offense considering how slow footed Marshall is. Needs to improve his decision making and be more efficient at the basket. Puts his head down too much, so doesn't know where to aim at the window when he's within 5 feet of the basket.
Harrison Barnes - Not really a big fan of his game. Deadly shooter from the outside. For a highly touted player he clearly has a lot of holes in his game. I'm not gonna harp on his ability to create for himself because enough people get him on that, but how the hell does he not have a left hand?!?! Needs to develop counter moves in the post and keep his dribble alive. I don't understand the need to pick up his dribble forcing the defense to swarm him. And with his NBA ready body, he should be drawing contact a lot more instead of fading away or pulling up for a jumper when there is contact.
Kendall Marshall - His court vision is on another level. Tremendous playmaker.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
After watching today's game UNC vs UK my impressions so far of Barnes are that he's not going to be the game changer that people have been hyping him up too be. He's mainly a jumpshooter who's a good defender. Outside of that there's nothing really special about Barnes.
Gilchrist on the other hand impressed me with his activity, reminds me a lot of Shawn Marion. The only thing missing is a good jump shot. Once he adds that he'd be able to elevate his game to another level.
Anthony Davis didn't have a great game today but that block to seal the win was nice. I can see why people have been raving about him. He's a very smart player for his age. He has huge defensive potential with his size and length.
Still haven't seen all the other major prospects yet and I want to watch a few of Quincy Miller's games. I think he'll be the guy we pick in the end.

He's quite mobile thought, and he has a decent hook and looks capable of knocking down the midrange, but he hasn't really rebound like a true 4. He definitely needs another year to polish his game. I don't see a top 5 talent in him...but he has a shot at the 2013 lottery.

Why are you only judging him off one game? In the games UNC played in before today, most of Barnes FG's were not 3-pointers. He was actually creating the majority of his shots, whether he looked awkward doing it or not.

I'll save you the trouble, his skills are there his body isn't. He still is recovering from that injury and just suffered an ankle injury, is too slow right now to play 3. Hopefully by season's end he can move better. For comparison I have seen Jonas move consistently faster then Quincy.

He played scrubs for the most part, the last game was the only game he played well against a ranked team. One could make the case that they didn't have good wing defenders.

Because this is the best competition Barnes has played up to date this year. He played horribly against a legit defender.

The onLy way I see the raps picking gilchrist is if they trade demar, because their game is way too similiar. If demar can get us sg who is able to create and can score from outside with ease .. Like Harden or Erik Gordon or even Kevin Martin then I think it makes sense to draft gilchrist who looks allot like Iggy with intensity. But that said I really like Antony Davis game.. The kid might be much of scorer put he is already great passer, great team player and best of all he looks like he is gone be great rebounder and post defender once he puts on weight.. I can really see Kg comparism. Terrence jones was also great .. I see allot of Al Harrington, antawn jamison in his game. It's hard judge barnes harrisson, maybe he will be better in NBA system or maybe he is another Marvin William .. I just don't feel save drafting him top 3 .. Kendall Marshall best point guard in draft.. Zzeller I wouldn't mnd drafting with mid 1rd or late 1rd .. The guy is underrated.. Teague needs to stay in school.. Mcdoo is power forward not small forward

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 2
Would really love to get Anthony Davis here in Toronto and both Kidd-Gillchrist (love the intangibles) and Quincy Miller. If it came down to it I wouldn't loose too much sleep if we drafted Davis and traded Ed Davis for Gillchrist and DeRozan for Miller. Gives Toronto a insanely good core if we could get a PG and we would have some good cap space to do so.
It's very unlikely to happen but if we do get Anthony Davis in Toronto I hope we try to get Gillchrist for Ed Davis and see what Bargs gets us.

Drummond is getting doubled-team automatically as soon as he touches the basketball.
