A woman rolled up on me at the grocery store because she wanted to tell me how smart she was to use a plastic bag as a glove, she came 2 feet from me to randomly tell me about that

That claim is not true. There is slightly more than "Jude Law hawking forsythia in Contagion" levels of evidence that it could help a little, but it isn't "solving the problem" by any means.

Kids in our neighbourhood still having play dates. Saw 6-7 of them out today having a blast out on the street. School is shut down for a reason. Their parents are morons and I'm infuriated. We are all sacrificing so much, we all have lost so much of our savings, I have so many friends in healthcare, and they are going to exposed to more danger because of these idiots. They are learning nothing from China, Italy and Spain.

Thanks to Turbo_Zone for the sig.

Which proves Taiwan's stance even more.

Maybe it's me but perhaps we should pay attention on how a small Island of 24 million is managing to win its battle against the virus.
No it's not you. It's known amongst most people that followed this thing understand that the Taiwan method was highly effective and should have been adopted here. Unfortunately, our leaders are saying "please do this and please listen" in situations where they should be implementing hard measures.

This pandemic has really shown how stupid and selfish humanity still is. People live in their own worlds and cant comprehend whats going on. My neighbor had a BBQ with 8-10 people over having a blast. Its going to take someone in their home bed-ridden and struggling to breathe before the seriousness kicks in. Until then alot of people are treating this like an extended March Break.

What about DeRozan dawg?!?!

I'm getting a lot of videos on whatsapp showing social gatherings are alive and well. Mississauga, Toronto, Burnaby, Surrey, everywhere.
And the stupidity is pretty global, not local. Every country thinks they have stupid people, when the reality is, humans are just **** stupid in general globally.
And its pretty dangerous how many people still think this is your average flu.

NS just declared a state of emergency, closing everything except essential services (although some businesses that aren't essential but can prove a 6 foot distance between employees can remain open) with cops enforcing gatherings under 5 with $1000 fines and whatnot.

its being used as a combo with influenza and HIV drugs. the HIV and influenza meds are antivirals aimed at different enzymes of the corona, and the malaria med helps contain the overreaction by the immune system which would worsen your condition if left unchecked.

"When you get right down to it, human beings are nothing more than ordinary jungle beasts. Savages. No different from the Cro Magnon people who lived twenty five thousand years ago. No different. Our DNA hasn't changed substantially in a hundred thousand years. We're still operating out of the lower brain. The reptilian brain. Fight or flight. Kill or be killed. We like to think we've evolved and advanced because we can build a computer, fly an airplane, travel underwater, we can write a sonnet, paint a painting, compose an opera. But you know something? We're barely out of the jungle on this planet. Barely out of the f***ing jungle. What we are, is semi-civilized beasts, with baseball caps and automatic weapons."

That's a step in the right direction. Considering they only have 28 diagnosed, combined with the measures they are taking at provincial entry points, they might actually be okay.
For us in the GTA (and surrounding area), it is truly a ****. Our provincial and federal government failed to get on the same page earlier this week (and month).

They’ll wait until it gets out of control before doing anything. F*ckin ridiculous if you ask me.

if you take a free democratic society and enforce a sudden and swift lockdown, it would cause not only panic, but riots. military would have to be involved.

My buddy is apparently high up there in the military chain. Had to help him move a few days ago so we got to chatting. The military is not trained to deal with this sort of stuff. It would likely be OPP or RCMP first I'm guessing.
i see your point about the sudden or swift lockdown. If people don't know why it's happening, it would cause panic for sure. This slow, gradual method however is dangerous as the virus is multiplying quickly.

Re: OT: Panic Buying. When Will it End?
Has anyone had to cancel any flights? westjet has me on some next level anger right now.
Flight - YYZ to Paris - June 2 2020
First call - two weeks ago: cancel for $100x4ppl or wait until 60 days prior and pay $250x4.
Second call - Three days ago: cancel anytime, but I'm stuck with the full fare. I would be out $2500. No $100 or $250 as mentioned prior. I was apparently "given the wrong info" the first time
Third call - tonight: can cancel for $100 now or $250 after April 2nd again. Money goes to travel bank, not MC which I'm fine with.
My issue is - why do I need to pay a $460 fee to cancel four flights? When I booked in December, I booked for a flight to Paris. Today, they cannot guarantee a flight to Paris for obvious reasons. Why am I now out $460 because we can't guarantee a flight ? Their best advice, constantly is to keep calling back (and waiting 2 hours) to see if travel advisories change. But if I wait a week, my fee goes from $460 to $1060.
Feels good to get this rant off my best. Loyal Westjet customer here. Ripping up my RBC Westjet MC and never flying with these **** again.

It’s happening in parts of Europe right now and nobody is rioting. It should be happening here but this country is soft AF.

Yeah I don't think that's it. Do you have any idea how hard it is to immediately deploy the army?
It's happening in parts of Europe that have started to hit the peak of cases. It would be helpful if we could employ the same methods China does but that's really not possible. And certainly not with the speed they did. If anything the army should be quarantining all large cities and not letting people in or out without cause. Letting it spread to every rural community would be really bad.
On the plus side we have been testing a hell of a lot.
