Love the presser! He really loves Toronto, you can tell. I mean even last season, while a member of the Pels, he said Toronto was one of his favorite places.
Does sound like he'll be out for a while though. I'm expecting him to be out till the 3rd or 4th week of March. We'll only have about 10 games left at that point.

Let him enjoy his time over the next few weeks to get acclimated to the new surroundings and strengthen his body. I really want to see him on the floor with the rest of the guys. We have needed a bucket-getter for a long time. He is that.
I know players enjoy the city of Toronto...but to hear him say it and keep saying it...it's refreshing to hear. We may not be that warm weather destination that a lot of players prefer but ya Toronto is a world-class city that stands up there with the New Yorks, Chicagos, etc.

I think it's significant that BI wanted to come here. Not only because of the city, though that's nice. But it sounds like he really analysed the situation in Toronto, the personalities, the on-court situation - and felt that he would be a good fit. BI being a lifelong hooper, a savant, that sort of conclusion by him holds weight.
You can imagine that Scottie having the more outgoing personality he does, directing teammates, will also help BI, say. Because BI doesn't seem like a guy whose voice ever raises.

Did Darko say anything about Ingram not suiting up this year?

I believe they said they will check him in 2 week intervals but they are unsure if he will play at all for the rest of the season. Which imo sounds like he’ll play the last 2 weeks or some games earlier then be shut down.

Ingram dropping a 40 piece in his season debut, game #82, is gonna be the ultimate cliffhanger.

I like this approach.
Make sure he's a 110% going into next season and has a more durable and better conditioned ankle.
Pels medical staff is garbage.

A reporter for the Pelicans said he was already ramping up and would have played if he wasn't on the trade block. The Raptors are sitting him to tank, and the player friendly extension was a big part of that. He could bolt in two years, but at least we won't win like an extra two games with him.

Wish I could fast forward the rest of this season and see how the team plays 2025-2026.

Is crazy it will be 8 months to see him play actually.

If we get a top 5 pick then trust me when I say the excitement for the following season will be very high, matching the excitement following the 21-22 season. People will want to tune in. Maybe even more if we do the full jersey rebrand and go purple and red for good.

Where does BI rank among forwards in the east? I think he might be 3rd.
1) Giannis
2) Tatum
3) BI

This line stuck out to me from the press conference: "I just knew I needed a fresh start — a fresh start where guys played hard and they listen."
Sounds like the culture in New Orleans was pretty poor. I think Ingram is really going to flourish in the Raptors' environment.

That's a subtle shot at Zion, I think. I don't think Zion listens to what the trainers and nutritionists on the team (if they have those) say. And...any organization is trying to get their best players to expand their games. Zion is the same guy he came into the league as. Hard to believe that they would have asked him to work on his shooting...and I have to believe they want him to...but Zion is today what he was 5 or 6 years ago: a human bowling ball who is predictably going to drive into the lane and catch bodies going up for the dunk or layup. I compare Zion to Blake Griffin in that they both were uber athletic freaks coming out of college but Blake's athleticism was sapped from him so early that he had to learn how to shoot and he was an ok 3 point shooter by the time his career ended. Can Zion do that too? I'm not sure he cares enough.

Franz?
Paolo?
IDK. Both Paolo and Franz could be better than him next season bc they’re still so young. BUT regardless he would definitely be top 5-6 in the EAST at worst

Giannis and Tatum are clearly #1 and #2 then one could make a case for any of Ingram, Siakam, Paolo or Franz as #3.

If Raptors traded Barnes for Franz I'd have the same hate the Mavs fans have for Nico right now. And I'm someone who isn't even 100% mad at the deal
