Agreed. I'd be very shocked if we didn't leave with a big and I expect that player to be taken at #19 as there is a pretty big drop off in the quality of bigs available at #31. I think it'll come down the Ware or Holmes.
I'm more torn at #31. Right now I'm in between Simpson, Djurisic, Tyson and Mitchell.
Simpson has very similar numbers and similar game to Brunson, except he's more athletic. Mitchell's numbers are similar to J-Dub although he's not nearly as athletic or physically gifted. Djurisic and Tyson both have very eye catching games as well, while Djurisic seems to be smoother and a better passer.
I'd be more interested in acquiring an additional second round pick than a first at this point, depending on how the draft actually plays out.
I would be cool trading down 5-10 spots to get another 2nd pick.

If Memphis is seriously considering trading up for Clingan they wouldn't have promised him so it's likely SA @ 8 which was rumored last week, UTA or CHI. I'd probably say CHI, SA and UTA in that order of probability.

I don’t agree with that entire top 5. I’m curious how so many of these mock drafts all come to a general consensus. And then 5 years down the road we learn the draft order should have gone much differently.

I think it is Memphis. Obviously because of Anthony Carter working as a coach, but also he fits their approach, they could use a back-up PG for Ja and they are an analytically driven team, and his POA defense is special.
With all that said, if Devin Carter is lottery then it speaks to how bad the draft is because it is the equivalent of Davion Mitchell and Justice Winslow going lotto. It just doesn't make sense.
Why doesn't it make sense?
Davion Mitchell and Justice Winslow both went lotto (right around 9). In drafts that weren't considered weak.
They weren't drafted there with their current form as their ceiling/comp. I read it more as Devin Carter's comp is current Davion Mitchell and Justice Winslow which is pretty underwhelming for a lotter pick. My read of it may be wrong though.
Defense first older players are always going to face challenges translating to the NBA.
My feeling is if the shooting track record is spotty or at least limited to one season jumping a level to the NBA speed including defensive closeouts is going to be hard for these guys.
When I watch Devin Carter's form it is a slow push shot. I don't see a ton of elevation. He is likely to struggle early on which is why I wouldn't burn lotto on him, but that's my gut feeling.

I don't think I would tbh because we'd definitely be missing out on a quality big, which I don't think we can afford to do.

They tried to trade Moody in last year's draft for a lottery pick, wouldn't be surprised if they tried that yet again.

I'd give them 19 for Moody and a future first. Might even consider Moody for 19 straight up tbh.
36% 3pt shooter, can slot in to GTJ's role this year and be a viable back-up 2 option long term.

Moody is still super young. Turned 22 a week ago, so basically the age of a Jr. or Sr. coming out of college. I don't know if he projects as a star, but I see him as a really strong two way, off ball player and I think he could fit with our current squad. I'd possibly part with 19 for him, although it's not great we have to pay him right away, but he could also be a steal if you extended him this summer and he broke out into a good 2 way 15 ppg guy.

I looked it up and apparently their workout happened before the lottery so they technically did have a chance at a pick but still interesting and them moving into the top 20 or so isn't impossible

I still think this is the trade that makes the most sense for the Raptors to pursue if they're not getting that 2025/26 first they're seeking for Bruce Brown. Turns CP3 in to two rotation players, one of whom has experience with the Dubs.

CP becomes guaranteed in the case, right? Do we just buy him out? I doubt anyone is taking his contract for anything of value if we're not able to turn Bruce Brown into anything, and I don't know that you can expect CP to play on a rebuilding team at his age.

I wouldn't. He's due for an extension and we already have Barrett and Dick who I anticipated eating most of the minutes at SG.
We need to keep the pick.

Why are the Warriors moving a young player in Moody and a SRP for two expiring role players?
