Do people really believe these hot takes? Barnes made the AS game in his third season. He's also the best player on what many people believe is a playoff team.

He was a substitution a few years back, but like his shot...it just never stuck.

Substitution or not, he got there in year three because he earned it. Last year he took a step back during a player development year.

His jump shot was a concern when he got drafted; big hands, long fingers... it's a challenge. He did shoot .341 from three two seasons ago. If he can get back to that with his current volume that's a big improvement. Progress never goes in a straight line.

Kawhi has huge hands and an amazing jump shot. He was never known as a shooter in college but as a rookie became a catch and shoot threat. Always esxcuses with Barnes.

Barnes made more threes than Kawhi in his Rookie Season. Sure, Kawhi took less threes and has a higher eff, but that's a different era with less threes taken overall. It's not an excuse if when it's facts. Kawhi needed 3-4 years into his career to utilize his skills and became a better player with more impact.

Scottie shot 38.5% on catch & shoot 3s that seasons so hopefully Ingram will help with those opportunities.

I think it will also help that there won't be the same expectations of him to be the primary scoring option. He was given a chance to see if he could take on that role but it's pretty clear that's not his game.

I think when most people talk about Barnes lack of growth, they are mostly talking about his offensive repertoire.

Guys like Derozan & Pascal........it was.obvious that they got better at existing offensive skills, plus added new tools each season.

Having said that, we do have to give Scottie a chance. I am very curious to see how he looks with this starting lineup by the end of the season.

Same with every other player. Blank slate. Lets see how they perform, then evaluate who fits and who doesn’t at the trade deadline & at the end of the season.

All of these guys might surprise us. Who knows.
