That's a good one, but I like the one where 13 Game Scottie got him a Max deal better.

Good game but it was against the Nets...Prolly the worst team in the East....That being said Barnes always does this its nothing new....He has one good game followed by 3 mid games....I will be looking for consistancy this year with him.

Ah yes. ROY, all-star, and despite what must be the worse seasons ever(based off this nonsense thread)

Points: 17.2 per game
Rebounds: 7.5 per game
Assists: 5.0 per game
Steals: 1.1 per game
Blocks: 1.0 per game
Minutes: 34.5 per game
Field Goal Percentage: .466

But hey what's 270 odd game sample size matter..

Haters going to hate.

if he maintains 17/8/5 i guess it's a win

not any major improvements but at least the team has a productive player

Sub 30% 3pt.

Scottie is a good player but not worth a max level contract. That said, the Raps were kinda forced to give it to him, I understand why they did. I honestly expected he'd improve more, but he is not bad. He needs to limit the 3pt shots like in the Nets game. He should drive in if he is open.

So yeah sub 30% 3 point shot just counteracts everything else?

Rookie max.

And near average TS% as primary option on a tanking team.

Injury concerns aside I’d easily take Trey Murphy over Barnes. He took a major leap last season.

No. Barnes is the better defensive player and gets the teamg going in transition. Murphy III is a role player on Powell's level.

lol his TS% as the primary option is nowhere close to average

His 56.6 TS% in year 3 was propped up by outlier 3 point shooting and when he was playing with Siakam who commanded more of the attention.

The hopium is that he can get back to something similar with Ingram but the 3 point shot needs to magically come back.

I only watched highlights but saw some patience and craft making his moves to the basket. Then I saw him trying to conduct the offense on the perimeter and someone from the Nets just ran over and stole the ball from him lol. Basically sums it up. Keep figuring out how to score inside and forget the point guard stuff.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

If you dont understand why people are concerned with Scotties Performances/attitude/lack of progress, then you should not attack them.

Yeah the big man stuff looked a bit better, he's still a really poor screener but there was some good timing on slips to the basket. Some good post-ups in deep where he was aggressive. We do have to keep in mind it's the Nets but still some of that stuff can translate over.

The key was really every time he scored it was max 1-2 dribbles. Anytime he probes or tries to do too much, the results aren't good.

Is he going to score 20 a game doing this stuff? Very unlikely but there's a path to becoming useful for him out there if his shot diet is all paint touches and he should get his fair share of FTA as well from doing that which will greatly help his efficiency.

Look, it's real simple, all he has to do is go 31/6/4 with super high effeciency while being clutch down the stretch every single night and we'll be satisfied. Is that really too much to ask? /s

Come on man, people don't ask him to be an MVP candidate.

I would be happy with half the PPG you just posted if it meant an engage Scottie 100% of the time who actually looks like he gives a ****. That alone is a great player.

It is preseason, so who gives a ****, but even with last nights banger of a game he is still at 12ppg on 35% shooting this pre-season. 31/6/4 can be the highs, but the lows gotta be better than 1/11 shooting or whatever that was the other night.

HiJiNX wrote:He’s done this plenty of times against great teams and superstars. He usually shows up for those. It’s the other games where he’s inconsistent.
He also has thrown up a lot of stinkers.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/barnesc01/splits/

There really is no rhyme or reason to his good or bad splits. He has great stats against like the Nets, and horrible vs the Pelicans. Great against the Lakers, horrid against the Clips. Good against ATL. Bad against DAL.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.
