XRM with another good game in the semis of the summer league: 12 points and 9 assists. The Lakers with a double OT win, and will play today in the finals. I agree that XRM could take Ennis' spot on their roster, unless the Lakers decide that a PG who can actually shoot would be a nice change (doesn't seem to be their priority). They seem to let him run, so there's a chance I think. Hardly the guy to play with Lebron, of course, but in any case, he would only see minutes if Rondo or Ball are injured. We'll see.

Now that the Raps included Poeltl in the trade for Kawhi without getting a big man back, I wonder if that increases Boucher's chances of getting a full NBA contract with them. I would imagine so, as right now the Raps big man situation consists of Valanciunas, Ibaka, and Siakam (although guys like OG and Kawhi can slide over to PF if necessary). Seems like a golden opportunity for him.

Tyler Ennis to the EuroLeague signing a 1+1 with Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce. I’m not so sure about this move - is he slated as their lead PG? If so that is a bit of a risky move. Recall Anthony Bennett could find no playing time with Fener. Jason Thompson also belly flopped for Fener last year. I'd certainly like to see Ennis given the keys to club to build his game and confidence. But hopefully Fener is not over his head.

But he is a fairly high IQ player - hard working guy, generally liked by his team mates. He just didn't have the athleticism or outside shooting for the NBA. His game management, vision, PnR skills are pretty good so I can see him succeeding in Europe, with strong players around him, which Fener has.

Regardless this is much better than wasting away at the end of an NBA bench.

And more news with Phil Scrubb signing with Zenit St Petersburg of the Russian VTB and EuroCup. This is a solid move up from Fraport and the BBL. The VTB is a better domestic league (batter pay too) and Zenit is a top four team. And he gets to the EuroCup. This seems pretty much on par, competition level-wise, with Melvin Ejim who is play for Unics - same leagues, similar caliber team.

Good move for Phil as he continues to move up the ladder.

Also keeps him free for the in-season Qualifiers (most likely). Recall we had Ejim for Feb but not Nov last year for whatever reason

Looking for a bit of of bump opportunity as this thread has been buried with all the Kwahi excitement.

Chris Boucher has signed a camp deal with the Raptors. Selfishly I'm hoping this is more of a way to get him some comp bump while planning to have him with the 905 for the year. After this news anyone think he is a roster threat for the Raptors or a possible two-way?

Lakers making a bunch of camp invites that don't include XRM, but they also just waived a two-way player in Malik Newman. With Alex Caruso as the other two-way and not sure they'd sign XRM to one as well. But still something to watch...

Here is an update summary on recent non-NBA signings:

K Pangos - Barcelona, ACB / EuroLeague
T Ennis - Fenerbahce, BSL / EuroLeague
K Wiltjer - Unicaja, ACB / EuroCup
P Scrubb - Zenit, VTB / EuroCup
T Scrubb - Varese, Series A
A Peter-McNeilly - Mitteldeutscher, BBL
J. Berhanemeskel - Zaragoza, ACB
D. Ennis - Andorra, ACB / EuroCup
D. Pierre / M. Ejim resign w/ current teams
Still out there unsigned (I think) Nicholson, Bennett, Best, XRM, Keane, Trasolini, Landry, Hanlan, Chery.

Still early early though.

Return to Toronto Raptors
