I'm sure some will boo but nothing close to Kyrie or AD's returns tonight. I hope we give him a standing ovation
He won’t get booed.
Some in the Bucks organization think Brogdon was protecting himself through the playoffs last spring, to maintain his his free agency value. Whether that's true or not, reading it finally helped me come to terms with the Kawhi thing. He sure the F didn't protect himself. He laid it all out so the Raptors could win. While clearly running (actually limping) on fumes for Games 5 and 6 of the Finals, he kept at it. Kept rebounding. Kept helping us to win.
I'll cheer.
Everyone will. I'm very much not concerned about that. The guy helped win a championship for them and that's what will be remembered.

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
wish we could have kept Jakob. He would have been the perfect protege to study under Marc. High IQ, Long, unselfish. He's the perfect counter to someone some Montrelz who is just a brute (with a nice touch)

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
Might sound like blasphemy now but Kawhi leaving us for the Clippers might really turn out a lucky break in a year or two
He is NOT the same player anymore. The only argument that i conceed is, he would have been with Alex M

I'm sure he's fine learning under Tim Duncan of all people lol.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'

Re: Former Raptor discussion thread 2.0
Just took a look at Kawhi's stat line for the first time this year. I'm surprised to see him struggling so much offensively - only shooting .435/.301 from the field/3-pt range. He does seem to be playing better defense though - his defensive plus-minus is through the roof compared to last year.
Still a very limited sample - I'd be surprised if his percentages don't come back in line with his career norms.

Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Kawhi's impact is overrated. I am not saying he is not good. But he couldn't carry the team or turn the team over singlehandedly. He did well mainly because of the our roster we had. Now he is just back to earth a little with clipper's roster.Lateral Quicks wrote:Just took a look at Kawhi's stat line for the first time this year. I don't blame Casey for the Detroit mess. Blake probably ended his prime by fighting through that knee injury last year and their PG and wing rotations are still terrible. Drum probably bounces and the Pistons will have high lottery picks pounding the rock for a few years.

Interesting hot take. So long as there's footage of Game 7 Sixers where even Pascal Siakam is afraid to shoot the ball, I will forever disagree that Kawhi was 'overrated' on our team and couldn't 'carry' the team singlehandedly.
By the way, anyone following Bruno Coboclo recently? He's become a player at Memphis. As in, an actual servicable player. Good for this kid. He's survived alot of scrutiny - some of it deserving, but some of it due to high expectations.

They chose not to extend him. He's an RFA. Masai should start attending all their home games.

I'm actually surprised at how little pt he got to start the season. He was playing really well at the end of last season

I think masai should target bruno in the off season... he is athletic, tall and would fit perfectly in this team...

Back to the Kawhi's take a little. Kawhi is big and strong compare to many SF around the league. He has that confidence to shoot over smaller defenders. Pascal, VanVleet and the others (even Lowry) do not have that kind of confidence (Mabe VanVleet now has). That's why we lost to Cavs two years straight. I hate LeBron, but the Cavs team is single-handedly carried by LeBron. Look at the performance with and without him, the difference is so great. We are still the top team with or without Kawhi, however. This is something Masai/Nurse did best. Make sure the next person can step up, we don't have to rely only 1 or 2 players.
Now for Bruno, I hope he pans out and cracks the rotation. He is only 24, still have time to develop. This is only his 10th year playing basketball? I hope he sign somewhere like Nets, Spurs or Mavs where there are legends like Dirk, Timmy helps him to develop the next year or two.
