It was interesting hearing it from the very mouth of our leader "we were a TOP4 team in the East up until the all team got COVID"...But you will still have POSTERs here saying with threads "we are rebuilding"..."we will be tanking"..  okay guys, well our leader Fred Van Vleet disagrees with y'all..

Excuses.

Every team got covid. Didn't stop some of them from making the playoffs either.

And Raptors got to a .500 record, for the record and the elusive "top 4" team because they had to catch up to the rest of the conference for being **** in the first place.

I mean if you're the least **** team of a bunch of **** teams, best not to brag about it.

Thank you! Also it was the timing that it happened as well. I think Miami and Washington had a few key guys get covid at the same time but still I don't think it was 3 of their top 5 guys and they got it earlier in the season when they had enough time to recover. We also had like no depth to begin with and had like 5-6 NBA players on that roster lol. So having to play guys like Stanley, Bembry and Baynes big minutes because our guys all had covid definitely didn't help. Even Flynn was out with it and he was probably our best bench player after Boucher by that time. Oh and Khem and Gillespie weren't on the team yet by that time. Like come on it's not some excuse it's the reality. No other team went through it as bad as us.

^ Not to mention playing every game on the road. These aren't "Excuses", it was a messed up season

Barnes looked good, Masai got his Giannis Project. Thats who he should be compared too. Gid forbid this kid is still growing.

Flynn looked really good, i dare say like FVV.
I say trade FVV and Siakham, dragic and go full rebuild if they can get Wiseman

the diff between flynn and FVV is off the dribble shooting. FVV does it here n there but i think his release is a bit slower. Hopefull flynns quick release can translate to the szn.

Your my friend. Thank you for finding this. Just too show everyone Barnes can be athletic, I think he was just playing with pace throughout the game which is fine. You don't always have to be running around burning energy.

I think the Raptors the only team their two best players got knocked out at the same time + head coach. it was unfortunate. Mavericks, Celtics and the Heat all had more covid related absences as an FYI.

lets not pretend the Raptors were an amazing team and then got beaten down by covid. they were a crappy team that got beaten down by covid. they were disjointed and did not play with cohesion from the get-go. and if they wanted to make the playoffs - it wasn't like they were 20 games back. they just weren't good enough.

Siakam had the all star break and missed 6 games due to covid
FVV missed 5 games after the all star break due to covid and then the hip injury got him in April I believe.

Still so surprised by Cade's size. The comps to Tatum/Luka seem silly now because he doesn't have forward size, he's just a big guard. I'm sure he'll be a good player anyway but I'd be pissed as a Pistons fan. What made him exciting was him being that classic SF sized player with high level playmaking and shooting. Without that he becomes a lot more ordinary.

I'd still take Green over him

Green is that athletic wing we've been waiting for since the Kobe, TMac, Vince era That next Jordan kind of player. I told everyone Cade isn't it! I always had Jalen and Mobley ahead of Cade.

Return to Toronto Raptors
