Banton made some shots in that last game though it was overshadowed by humiliating loss.

As long as we understand he's probably not going to end out as a PG, should be fine. I think he can still be a decent bench player.

Agreed. I'd be fine with him being a backup combo guard that can shoot above average. At least won't have to pay him more than the MLE. If his ceiling is a top 8 rotation player on a championship team, that's cool. Maybe his career will mirror Delon Wright and play over 10 years and earn like $60 milllion.

He's special.
His 3pt shot has looked so good all year. Excited to see him reach his potential.

Small sample size and all, but Banton is putting up some really impressive per36 numbers after his big game tonight.

22.1 PTS (46/35/88 shooting splits or 58 TS%)
4.6 REB
3.9 AST
1.9 STL
2.4 BLK

The biggest thing is his shooting definitely looks to have improved, both behind the arc and at the line. He has also generally done a better job at taking care of the ball even though it has been in his hands a bit more early in the year compared to last season.

He had a good game and believe he has a shot as a prospect but he has a long way to go. He is really a g league plus type player right now I think you’d get more consistent and dependable performances out of Dowtin right now but he obviously if worth more to invest in long term.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Nurse said postgame he doesn't have to only play point if his shot keeps improving. A slashing 6'7 wing with a 3 point shot makes a good 2 or combo guard. He can run the break too, what a lob to Boucher in the fourth
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Banton developing into a rotation player this year would be huge for this team. A dependable 9 man rotation would make this team very good.

One thing that Banton was doing in the pre-season that looked so good, but stopped doing for some reason when the regular season began, was look to quickly go downhill on those dribble handoffs the Raptors like to run. He rarely challenged the paint for the first few games of the season, which is a big reason why he was so ineffective, and I think why his minutes dried up.

However, the last few games, and especially tonight, he was much more aggressive about driving towards the paint. It just gives him so many more options, and really makes him a threat on the offensive end, because if the opposition doesn't seal off his lane to the rim, he's a very good finisher, and if they do, he's got very good court vision to find the open man.

Keep that up, and keep making incremental improvements to his shot, and he's a rotation player for sure. Let's hope he brings it more consistently from now on.

Yeah, I see Banton as more as a big Combo guard. He can get to the rim and make plays. Him being able to shoot and being a threat off the dribble is the key for him. Has to continue to tighten that handle too though.

The way he tears up the G-League is a good indication that he's an NBA level player. The question is how good can he be at this level?

IMO he's got the potential to be a 20ppg scorer. He can also be one of the playmakers in the league, given his length & athleticism.

I didn't expect his shot to get this good this fast. He's well on his way to becoming a capable NBA starter in a year or two.
His emergence will make Fred expendable.

Banton is better when he is trying to score and being aggressive. Where he gets in trouble is when he is passive and trying to play hot potato with the ball and deferring to our playmakers.

That sequence at the end where he just took over a few possessions taking initiative to get the basket is how he should come into games. He should adopt GTJ mindset with bench squad and unlike him he has natural passing instincts

He had a big summer and nurse said a couple times that he was "as good as anyone else on the court" during training camp. It's been clear that nurse has been dedicated to giving him ample chances to capitalize on that momentum going into the season.

I'd like to see him play with fred a bit more....perhaps alternating between sg and pg while trent is sitting.

Shot mechanics definitely improved. More arc. Straighter line. Fluid release. And hes tAking them.

I agree. When he's with the Vanvleet, Siakam et el he defers a little too much. It's natural that a young player would second guess what he's doing when the vets are on the floor. But he needs to realize that they'll all be better with him injecting some controlled aggression.

I think he's found his spot with the farther 3pt line. That right side elbow! Like Lowry loved the left side elbow.

If his shooting can hold up that’s huge for this team. Let him be a solid 3&D bench guard/wing who can get real minutes while continuing to develop his half court creation game. Even if he never develops as a playmaker like we hope having a 6’9 wing who can guard multiple positions and shoot mid-30s from 3 is still very valuable.

Which player has a higher trade value: Banton or Precious?
