You could probably flip Odom to MIA and get Beasley and our pick back. Our pick definitely has value.

If BC really wanted to earn his paycheck, he'd be trying to parley Bargs in some kind of deal to the Lakers for Bynum.

A Bosh/Bynum front court would be fantastic.

Except you have to apply a little brain power to why the Lakers would do such a trade. The motivation for a Bosh for Bynum deal is to replace the shaky potential of Bynum with the surer and larger value of Bosh within the context of what the Lakers have in Gasol and Kobe. They are severely mortgaged to the latter two and will be paying through the nose for them well into their mid-30s when their game is declining. They would probably view Bosh as the guy who begins to take over the top slot in a couple of years with Kobe and Gasol providing a very high level of complementary support.

There are two players, that if BC acquires them, we'd be instant contenders. They are New Orleans' Darren Collison and Los Angeles' Andrew Bynum. And I don't even think I'm exaggerating when I say that, Collison + Bynum on the same team=contender for however long Andrew Bynum holds up, which, hopefully is longer than 40 games.

Collison
Insert Shooter
DeRozan
Bargnani
Bynum

S&T Bosh for Bynum. Then, somehow acquire Collison, maybe in a 3-way trade of sorts, where New Orleans gets enough compensation to pull the trigger.

That's a team with a considerable ceiling there.

That would be best case scenario, but highly unlikely. We all know the relationship between BC and Bargs... :banghead:

Forget that. I don't think the Lakers would offer Bynum for Bargnani. I'd do that trade - providing Bosh guarantees to re-sign if we do that trade. I think BC would do it, too. But it doesn't seem to be on the table and Bosh for Bynum might be.

You guys make it sound like we actually have a choice in the matter. Bosh decides where he wants to play not BC and/or the Lakers, this is not your everyday trade.

Like I said before if Bosh decides he wants to go to the lakers and they only have Odom and Vujacic to offer you can bet that that's what will be taken in return.

I think you are exaggerating. I like Collison and Bynum too but that twosome alone does not=contender.

I mean, how much better do you think Collison and Bynum are than Devin Harris and Brook Lopez? Because those two combined for a 12-win team.

Playoff team, assuming they stay healthy, probably.
Contender? I highly doubt that.
40% of the teams in the NBA won 50 or more games last year and we'd need to improve by 10 games to reach that level, record wise. (just to give a perspective on the "contender" comment)

Bynum is a bum, a bum knee , a bum work ethic , i can go on but why bother. Draft a center not a 2 year rental , but the world ends in 2012 lol so i guess my reason has no logic whatsoever, never mind continue on babbling.

Never mind Bynum.

About Odom. Not so fast. He played 82 games this year coming off the bench. He is a double double 6th man for the Lakers. For us, if in shape, he would be a shot in the arm. He has point guard skills in a big frame. I would not sneeze at a package involving him. Would he come here? Artest likes Canada so a Ron Ron/Odom/Vujacic and their 2 - 2010 second rounders for Bosh/Belli works for me.

Not true. If that's the offer then BC lets Bosh walk for the smaller contract. Why would we (as a rebuilding team) take back a contract like Odom's? That would be worse than no sign & trade at all.

If Bosh decides he wants go to Washington to be near his kid, do we have to take back Gilbert (the worst contract in the league)? No freaking way. Stop acting like BC has no leverage. He has leverage in any situation, but especially with teams over the cap. We may not even get 50 cents on the dollar, but we won't get nothing (or bad contracts)...

If Bosh has made up his mind to leave (and/or MSLE has made up their mind to move on) there is no way we can do any better than this particular potential deal.

I'm listening to Part 1 of Bill Simmons latest podcast with Ric Bucher and I think I heard Simmons tell Bucher to fack-off at the 39 minute mark.

If you do get Bynum, don't even play him in the regular season(or play him only as long as necessary to make the playoffs. Certainly, if he gets any kind of injury, sit him out). Just tell him to add as much muscles as he can(and he can hold A LOT), and you'll have a super-dominant big in the postseason.

You lose a little cartilage after every arthroscopic surgery procedure. By sitting him out, you're saving what he has left(technically, when people say wear and tear, it's wear and tear on the cartilage). Just get a good enough team to make the playoffs at least without him(or maybe of him having to play only 50 games or something), and you've somewhat worked around the injury problem.
