Everybody cussin out Lowry for playing hero ball should relax. The best player on your team SHOULD get the ball. With that being said. That doesn't mean that Lowry has to HOG the ball the whole time and that is on Casey's head. If it's not a Lowry drive it's a Lou pullup. No matter what, it's ISO ball.
I think Lowry should get the ball. He's the one I'm most comfortable with in the final moments of a game. But sweet jesus, how hard is it to set up a play for him?!! Swing the ball. Set some picks. Do something creative that'll get the defense out of sorts so as Lowry can make something happen. Even if it was a broken play, that last basket by Amir in the 4th demonstrates that Lowry doesn't HAVE to be the one to shoot. But he can be used to free up others.
When Lowry drives 3 consecutive times and gets no basket and no calls from the refs. It's time to switch it up. Casey f--ed up on this one.
With that being said. F the refs. There's no point in playing the game if some bonehead keeps taking it away from you. The bad call was too blatant. The Raps mess up, they lose the game. The refs mess up, the Raps lose the game.

Re: PG: Clear Path FTL
Highlight of the game for me: Vasquez brings the ball down the court 1 on 4 or 2 on 4 for Portland. He stops at the 3 point line and Leo basically says "look at that smart play by Vasquez. Slowing down and letting the play develop." At which point Vasquez jacks up a bad contested 3. To which Leo simply pauses then says "that was a good shot because blahblahblah." So dumb.
Also, the clear path fouls were different. Lillard was in front of the ball when he reached in and actually made an attempt on the ball. Not a clear path. Vasquez was in front but then let Batum get by him and decides to reach around and foul from behind. Clear path. If Vasquez would've fouled before getting blown by, they wouldn't of called it.

Trailblazer fan here...
Watched the game last night. I haven't really kept that close tabs on the Raptors but I gotta say, your Toronto team is as exciting as any I've ever seen coming out of your city. Just a lot to be super proud of and playing the "right" way.
I love Lowry. He reminds me of Westbrook minus the super annoying everything.
Jonas is obviously turned into a GREAT big man. He's certainly built on and put together a nice skill package from his rookie season. You guys are super lucky to have him. Curious as to why Casey didn't play him as much later in the game...
Speaking of lucky...I am fully jealous of your bench--so much length, good BBIQ and playing within the system. Although somewhat better this year with Blake and Kaman, it's no fluke that the Trailblazers went down into a hole the first 5 minutes of the 2nd when they put their bench in.
Anyway, the Raptors are my new favorite team in the East. I will be rooting for you guys in the ECF against the Bulls or Hawks.

I watched your post game show after getting back to the hotel and I have to say I loved the analysts from the crew. Great insight and they gave Raptors credit for getting Portland out of rhythm and somehow managed to win. They even went on to talk about how the refs favored them tonight although I thought it was pretty even up until the end. No homerism whatsoever which is refreshing to see as an opposing fan. Coach's segment was nice as well, really good talk.
Oh and lovely city. Bought some Ducks gear and I'll be repping them tomorrow. Good luck.

I don't know about that. The portland commentators are probably the biggest homers in the whole league. They kept complaining throughout the whole game.

Their analysts were completly biased. Every single call for Toronto they would complain about including the goal tending one. "Yep a clean block!" even after seeing the replay. Granted our guys are pretty biased too but that was overkill

I had no issue with it. Val seems to get nervous and do stupid things in the 4th quarter. He gets easily rattled when he doesn't get a call and turns the ball over, he also forces bad shots at times. Overall his play was sloppy and I'd rather have Amir and Patterson in there.
Coach did the right thing. You can't have your young center forcing up bad shots like that late in the game.

Agreed. Not to mention Val didn't dunk that easy gimme in front of the rim in the 4th, instead he got block laying it up. And got T'ed up for a dumb gesture towards the ref. He was also forcing his shot when he didn't have good footing.
That 'dumb gesture' was NOT towards any ref. Get your head out of your ass that was a bull tech
Players get teched up for what JV did all the time. What is the issue>?

he does that all the time and never gets tech'd...what he did doesn't mean ''f you refs'', it just means ''ahh whatever''
that was a soft ass tech.

This.
Oh wait, reality is actually the opposite. Even in the goaltend situation, they initially thought (based on careful viewing of the video) that it was blocked before the top of the arc, but then acknowledged that the ball was within the cylinder and call was proper.
I really enjoyed the Portland crew and they taught me some (slightly illegal) things that the Raptors do that our guys would never get into. But they were more admiring than disrespectful. The analyst really knows how the game is played in the NBA, and understands the "cheats".
Listen to the Portland broadcast, and then listen to the Nuggets broadcast of our Sunday game. Big difference.

I guess every person has their own story. All I remember is a replay being shown about 12 times and the analysts kept going on about how it is clearly a block. They never admitted it was clearly a goaltend. I think you just manufactured that in your head now in order to keep the nice act going with the polite Blazers fan.

Re: PG: Clear Path FTL
Wasn't there a point in the game where the ball was sitting on the rim and a Portland player tapped it in? Commentators started questioning why it wasn't waived off??? That one blown call gives the Raptors the win.
Spoiler:
