The sooner Masai chooses a direction for this team the better.
I'd 100% gamble on Shaedon Sharpe if given the opportunity.

Kendall Brown outside the lottery if we are a playoff team would be very good value.
Very good value but his half offense is baddd right now
Brown would be great outside the lottery but if you are in the late teens or 20s even, you have to take on projects again or low ceiling role players.
I mean that was the book on demar when he was in college too, now he’s a top 10 half court player in the nba. His college tape had like no clips where he scored on more than one dribble when driving to the hoop.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
A new guy on my radar for Toronto is Justin Lewis from Marquette. Usually Marquette guys are tough as nails and Lewis is basically monster at 6'7 and 245 lbs. His numbers as a soph had a huge leap forward basically doubling to 16 and 8 and he is up to 34% from three and high 70s freethrow shooting. He is a rock steady defender that could basically guard forwards and Cs. Watching him play, he looks like OG - the crazy thick legs, the stand still threes, the post-ups and footwork, the strips on defense - all very OG like.
;ab_channel=LeagueHim
He is only 19 and I am not sure where he is on most draft boards, but looking at some of the advance stats he compares well on Bartorvik to guys 6'7 and above: Usage ≥ 25; Block % ≥ 1.5; Steal % ≥ 2; Free Throw Rate ≥ 28; Height ≥ 78; Box +/- ≥ 5;
Similar players:
Keegan Murray
Paolo Banchero
Jabari Smith
Tari Eason
Trevion Williams
I mean those are all elite guys in this draft. To further illustrate his uniqueness he made more threes than all those guys outside of Jabari Smith. He is also 245 and I don't think any of those guys are as big and mobile as he is.

I'll easily take AJ Griffin over Wesley.

Herbert Jones' numbers in college were okay but he was 1st team all-American on defense.
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/herb-jones-3.html
Would Keegan Murray be that guy, but since he's leading the nation in scoring he's not under the radar? Maybe Kendall Brown becomes that guy? Herb didn't crack 10ppg until his senior year.

Sounds like a guy that could really grow in the 905 system.

Re: Official 2022 Draft Thread
If he goes undrafted, I think Trayce-Jackson Davis could be a nice fit here in the same sort of role Birch plays, as he's a 4/5 tweener in size with no 3pt shot (and 66 FT% every year suggest that ain't changing) but he can really play.

I'm still high on Griffin Jr. I think outside the lottery he has the best chance to be a starter on a good team. Plus, he fits in with our long and strong wing archetype.

I don't think he falls outside the lottery though.
He keeps performing better & better...unfortunately (for us) I think he's going to play his way BACK into the top 10 and I think his ceiling is much higher than just a "starter on a good team" and more that of an all-star. I think his potential is to be that SG steal like Mitchell was.

I would say he's already back in the top 10 bumping out Kendall Brown. I think he could be Jimmy Butler with better 3pt shooting.

haha - you probably saw Marquette beat down Seton Hall. I watched a little of that game too. He's a little stiff in his movements. He is lot like OG in thickness but stiffness too. He does fit the Masai mold of 6'7" - 6'9" with a big wingspan (7'2"). He's young though. Not an OG defender but still good. Decent shot. He could be a steal.

I don't think Murray moves anywhere near as well as Herb Jones does, but he's a scorer and Jones isn't. Jones should be able to guards 2s and maybe PGs. He's gonna shift some playoff series by blanketing some smaller guards.
Murray looks like an average 4 defensively but nice scoring tough, like a Tobias Harris maybe.

I'm emotionally ready to rule out the top 10 and want any content there is on the 11-25 range guys. I'd read any Eason, Agbaji, Brown, Baldwin, Jovic, Beauchamp, Dyson Daniels available.

Many others do get it.
Wesley is now up to #7 on Draft net and in lottery on 2 other mocks. Fast risers often go even higher than projected.
He is going top 10....so probaby not to Raptors.

Do people see a 6'5 SGA?

Yes, that Seton Hall game was how he got my attention for sure and even the draft guy Wasserman gave him a shout out.
I also think the analytics and size kind of fit the Toronto prototype for forwards.
He is really under-the-radar so maybe he doesn't even go in this draft, but I felt like watching him move I was watching OG all-over again. To be fair, OG was a far more electric athlete in college. Maybe this guy ends up like a PJ Washington or PJ Tucker type which would be more of a hybrid forward. In some ways he also reminds me of the guy we cut in camp that was a former Buffalo Bill, Ish Wainright.

Griffin might slip more than you think. At the moment of truth, GMs will remember the injuries.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Jeremy Sochan? From Butler I think I like him the best, not sure how athletic he is from what I saw but he is Masai size, an amazing defender and if he can improve his shot a little more he can play some SF. He just doesn't score much.
