I think Colangelo probably wants to bring in his guy, but we'll see where the money comes from I guess. Raps are just under luxury tax.

Anyway, Shulman is god and I agree with him. There are teams out there with less talent winning more games. The Knicks have the same record as us right now. The Spurs stayed competitive without Manu and Parker. Jose and Bosh alone should guarantee us a .500. Factor in JO and Banana playing better, and there's no reason this shouldn't be a team competing for 4th, instead of 8th.

Good guy? Yes. Character guy? I don't even know what that is.

Everybody defines character differently.

In basketball, I see it as somebody that is actually willing to stand up and defend his teammates. Somebody that won't back down from a fight. Really, it's just having integrity.

Sam Mitchell was a character guy.

Coaches don't count against the cap, if that's what you're worried about.

Avery until about year 3.

The real Avery is the year 3 and 4 guy. Did you ever watch the Mavs games the 1st 2 years he coached. He must have had a cramp in his neck from turning so often and asking Harris what to do during the game. Harris handled all the X's and O's, even Avery admitted this himself, and once Avery became more hands on with strategy then the team imploded. He pretty much got the job originally because he was buddies with Cuban. Poor Don Nelson had to hear for 2 years from Cuban and the press that Avery was being groomed as the coach in waiting so watching the Warriors spank the Mavs in the playoffs probably was better than winning a title for Nelson.

I am really surprised by this.

Of course, I am not surprised that I am surprised - Colangelo is the master of keeping things under wraps.

Sad to see Sam go, but I am excited to see what happens next.

Just found out...thought his head was on the block but didn't think it would happen so soon.

I always hated Smitch from day one and I am very happy to see him go. Never liked him as a coach, time and time again other teams simply out coached us on many nights. He lost control of the team and a change was necessary. Who they pick now...no clue....but not Triano that's for sure.

Wow, I couldn't believe it was actually done. I wanted him fired for like 3 seasons but for it to actually happen, it feels weird.
