This isn't worth starting a thread, and it's Hoopsworld, but here ya go:

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?sto ... z1Ax1FsqHN

▪ In the past, I've mentioned that the Toronto Raptors are a team to keep an eye on as the trade deadline approaches because of their young talent, expiring contracts, and large traded player exception. Once the drama surrounding Carmelo Anthony passes, league sources reiterated that they believe the Raptors will make a move. With so many teams waiting for a resolution on Anthony, Toronto has been limited in their discussions thus far. But once that's out of the way, one source said that they would be very surprised if the Raptors didn't make a move and described the front office as being "too quiet."

Should the Raptors take a look at Brook Lopez?

That was his reaction after getting pulled late in overtime yesterday, looks pretty frustrated.

Should the Raps pounce?

Obviously he's having a pretty down year, but he's a legit defensive 5. Rebounding is Bargnani-esque this season, but he grabbed 9 per last season so I'm willing to write that off as a one off.

This doesn't really deserve it's own thread as you could pick any clip from any player and then suggest, "Should we take a look at him?"

Still, I'll move it to the trade thread.

Do Raptors fans think Toronto would be inclined to accept Biedrins for $9m from the Bosh exception?

I'm sure some would (I've seen his name bandied about here). Personally, it wouldn't be the worst thing given his age but I'd probably rather not taken on his contract given his injury history and dwindling production recently.

But as I say, I'm sure lots of other Raptors fans would disagree with me.

No way we'd do that, we'd end up in lux tax territory... it might be possible with expirings, but definitely not the TPE. Personally I'd rather try to get one of DeAndre/Nene/Perkins/Chandler for around that much money (or maybe try to get Gasol for a slightly bigger contract).

Would you guys do Ed Davis for Jeff Green, or Davis and Miami's first for Green? If not, why not? Considering Green might sign a contract elsewhere, but this gives us his rights, so he would be matched by us. If you would, you think Davis would be enough?

I'd do that.

I wouldn't give up Davis. If we want to offer him a contract in the offseason, fine, but his 15.5/5.6 in 37.8mpg shooting 42.2% from the field and 27.6% from 3 is simply not enough for me to be willing to move Ed just for the right to match offers for him.

Apparently they wouldn't mind the idea either... I think his numbers this season would be much better if he got the majority of his minutes at the SF... he would be a very good compliment to Bargnani at the 4... we would really just need a C for the future and hopefully a young PG who can run a team effectively.

Calderon/Bayless
DeRozan/ Barbosa/ Weems
Green/ Weems/ Kleiza
Bargnani/Johnson/Evans
*some signed or drafted C in the offseason*/Dorsey/Johnson

Chances of Ed Davis developing into what you expect are low.

People always remember the success stories, Kobe the 13th pick becoming a HOFer, and Aldridge becoming an established player. People forget about the majority of picks who don't develop. Julian Wright, one of our scrubs, was drafted recently (A few years ago) 13th overall. People overvalue rookies and picks.

Le Doug was asked whether the Raptors will consider trading Leandro Barbosa at the deadline:

I think they would consider it indeed.

Green for Davis? sign me up.. Davis strikes me of being guy who really doesn't like Toronto all that much..
Either way I'd trade just about anyone on our roster besides Bargs for Green.

So true. You guys talk about Derozan leaving, there isn't a chance in hell that Davis stays.

I wouldn't trade Derozan either.

what about this.

To Toronto: Jeff Green + Morris Peterson + Beno Udrih (absorbed through Bosh TE)
To Oklahoma: Carl Landry + Samuel Dalembert + Linas Klezia
To Sacramento: Jose Calderon + Nenad Kristic + Dj White + Miami 2011 1st Round Pick

* SAC also gets a 6.4 million TE

OKC goes all out and contends

Toronto gets Jeff Green and allows Bayless to start

Sacramento gets an upgrade at PG in Calderon, save some money this year (4.3 million), get a TE worth 6.4 million and grab a pick.

Westbrook / Maynor / Ivey
Thabo / Harden / Cook
Durant / Klezia
Landry / Collison / Mullens
Dalembert / Ibaka / Aldrich

= legit contending team.

Bayless / Beno / Gaines
Derozan / Barbosa / Peterson
Green / Weems / Wright
Johnson / Davis / Dorsey
Bargnani / Evans / Alabi

= get a legit SF in green

Calderon / Jeter / Head
Evans / Caspi / Taylor
Garcia / Green
Thompson / White / Jackson
Cousins / Kristic / Whiteside

= i like their team after this.

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

What makes you think DD will want to stay? For that matter, why would Green come/stay?

You dont trade guys because they will leave in 6 years time.

NYK will trade Anthony Randolph for 1st round pick within next 2 weeks, sources say. Minny, Indy, Portland among likeliest destinations

^^ If the pick is just being used to send to Denver in a Melo deal, I wonder if Masai would have any interest in Alabi+Miami pick instead? He might value them the same as the Jazz or Hornets picks that Minny/Portland would likely give up. That could be one far-fetched reason that Alabi was recalled from Erie so soon after being sent down.
