There is no way Rogers doesn't spend to keep a championship team together if they win. Of course they need to pay Bichette. Then continue to upgrade the pitching and run it back.

With all this good will of bring Canada's team and all the buzz Rogers is getting being able to call themselves the owner of Canada's team and all the revenue that comes from a deep playoff run...Rogers needs to spend more to try and repeat.

If they can bring back Bo to play 2B like Alomar this team will be sick. Re-sign Bieber #1 priority, 4 years $100 million. Trade Berrios so you can afford to re-sign Bassitt for maybe 3 years $50 million?

Starters - Gausman, Bieber, Yesavage, Bassitt, Lauer

Then you have Bowden Francis, Ricky Tiedemann and whovever in Buffalo, fighting to be the 6th starter in case of injury.

This was a Cinderella season.

George Springer rebounded to 2nd best career year after being one of the worst contract last year
10-year minor leaguer Lukes contributed
Our A-ball pitcher dominated in playoffs
Ryan Goins clone Clement hit like Biggio
All our FA signings bombed but didn't matter

Everything aligned this year.

Certainly a lot of things went right with out depth pieces, but I think with a decent amount of money coming off of the books, plus an ownership that no longer has any problems with spending big I think we'll still have a very good roster.

Yeah some of the AAAA guys that worked out for us (Lukes/Schneider/Clement) may have worse years next year, although I think Ernie has a good solid floor with his defense. There's also some upside (along with risk). Barger could really be better next year, he has a non-zero chance of being an All-Star I think at some point. Vlad should actually be better than he was I think. Gimenez and Santander cannot possibly hit worse than they did this year (Gimenez had some reasonable expected hitting stats).

Santander may as well be considered adding a new piece next year given how this year went.

Pitching will be interesting. We'll see if we try to retain Bieber or if we go for a different FA, but for sure that is going to be the case. Gause/Bieber (or FA)/Yesavage/Berrios/FA (do we bring back Bassitt?) and Lauer could also fit in there somewhere.

Bichette obviously looms as the biggest question, and will impact how much money winds up being left. I don't think the rest of the league views him as a SS so maybe that caps some of his free agent value, but his bat is going to be valued. He's been clutch in the WS while injured.

We need to win my brothers, my brothers, we do need to win! Let us win, and not plan for what to do after victory until we WIN. The rizz of FOCUS. The Blue Jays need our FOCUS. The last two wins have been easy but nothing remains easy my brothers.

So....do you think Trey is going to be on our playoff roster?
Or do you think he's still a year or two away from contributing on the big boy roster?
Look back on what I said. I said he's our #1 prospect. I like the guy, But I also have realistic expectations. You say there is a "non-zero chance" he gets the call up. Want to place a RGM signature bet on this?? Call it.

My bro, if knock on wood, he does not get injured next year, you will owe me that money by like the end of May.

Haha yeah, he's been spectacular. Nobody saw this coming - it's an unprecedented leap from the lowest tier of the minor leagues to dominating the World Series. Hopefully he can carry it over to next year. This is one time I'm happy to lose a bet lol!

I'm not sure they can be a top team (meaning winning multiple divisions) over the next few years, but I think they can certainly be a perennial playoff contender from 2026-onwards. A lot will depend on what they do this winter, mostly on the pitching side. Yesavage is obviously young and will be around for a while (health permitting) but the rest of the rotation both in 2026 and especially beyond is a huge question mark. They need to sign their next Gausman this winter, and another Bassitt wouldn't hurt either.

As long as Rogers is willing to be a top 3-5 payroll team (and they have no reason not to after this run), then I wouldn't expect things to fall off a cliff, regardless of what happens this weekend. Win or lose this series, I think they spend big again this winter.

Dylan Cease is the guy. He has a high K/9. Not a good ERA but the Jays defense should make him look like he was back in Chicago.

We're an extremely old team, so not likely. Springer, Gausman, Bassitt, and Berrios are all in their mid-30s. Scherzer is 41 and only signed for this year anyway. We also relied heavily on scrubs like Clement and Lukes catching fire this year to get us this far. It's extremely unlikely they repeat their success next year.

Then, like you said, Bo is a FA in the off-season and he's our second most productive under-30 player.

If we re-sign Bichette, I can see us being competitve again next season as maybe a wild card team (you can expect regression from all or most of the players I named above). If Bichette leaves and we don't find a 4-5 WAR bat to replace him in free agency, we're probably looking at a 2-3 year retool to get back to contention. However, even if we re-sign Bichette, we're still looking at a retool very soon due to how old our pitching staff is, and us having a pretty understocked minor league system.

I think that's a fair post, but I'll push back on a couple of things:

- Definitely don't think Ernie's a scrub. That's two strong years in a row for him now, and while his playoff hitting is unsustainable, his approach at the plate is great and his elite defense isn't going anywhere. Lukes too seems like a solid 4th OF. I know neither guy is young, but sometimes guys breakout late, as we saw with Bautista/Encarnacion/Donaldson.

- We do have several older players, but that's also a lot of cap room freed up once they're done, and as we've shown the will to spend coming off a non-playoff season, one has to figure we'll be throwing even more money around this off-season...this time with players likely more willing to listen to our calls.

The division will get even tougher next year as Yankees get back Cole, Boston probably makes a couple of adds and Bal/TB bounce back from unexpectedly bad seasons, but with Yesavage/Barger breakouts, Santander hopefully back in full strength and likely significant free agent additions, we should be right there battling for the division again.

Very well said but couldn't this have waited until the conclusion of WS? Let us stay in this dream a bit longer

Man, I don't even care if this is it. It's been over 30 years since we were even IN the World Series. This is awesome! And if we win, then I fully DGAF what happens for a loooooong time after that, just like last time.

As you say, let's just be present in and enjoy the moment for now.

LETS GO BLUE JAYS!!!!!

I was 8 & 9 years old while watching them win back to back which started my fandom of Baseball and sports in general. Stuck with this team (and the Expos as my NL team) through thick and thin.

From the late 90s teams that had Roy Halladay, Chris Carpenter, Carlos Delgado, Rocket Roger Clemens etc. To when Rogers bought them and gave them life again by signing BJ Ryan (disaster signing), AJ burnette. To the true renaissance of the team with the Bautist, Encarnacion, Donaldson teams who finally made the post season again after two decades.

I remember after the Expos left that people were saying Baseball is dead in Canada, soccer was going to take over blah blah... now we are one Win away from the World Series.

hey clement and lukes are not scrubs. they might not hit like ichiro next year but they are well known non strikeout guys, and have flourished under this popkins mantra of "wait for a good pitch"
