So it would seem like many Raptor fans may get their wish. There's probably as great a chance as there's ever been that Bargs is traded this week.

Wasnt the comment in regards to Demar in regards to a deal with Minny involving Flynn?

no this was in today's chat:
Dallas in Canada:
In your opinion, based on what you've heard out of Toronto, if one player was to be traded, who would it most likely be?

Bill Ingram:
My guess is Bargnani, but I know there is a lot of interest in DeRozan. The Raptors don't seem too interested in moving him, which makes a lot of sense. Bargs is the only other piece drawing signficant interest . . .

Oh, so were taking Bills words instead of BC's.

I'll stick with BC's words, cause if an offer came up for say Howard and Demar was included I would stop following this team if the deal wasnt made.

Raptors Offseason Thought

Post#566 » by Purple Forever » Wed Jun 22, 2011 1:31 pm

So taking everything I have seen and heard - here is a potential plan for this offseason

1. At the draft trade #5 and Calderon for Tony Parker. Reasoning - Parker is an immediate upgrade and I am uncertain any of the likely available PG at 5 is an upgrade on Bayless. So do this deal to set us at PG with Parker already signed, can start for 3 years and teach Bayless as opposed to throwing him in the fire.
2. Barbosa opts out - reasoning - he gets flexibility and Raps open cap room - can use Bird rights to sign him long term - is the RJ strategy from last year which BC has already stated he is open to.
3. Use our cap space - in the neighbourhood of 15-16 MM without Barbosa and by renouncing everyone and sign Tyson Chandler 5 years 15 MM per average - so starting salary is about 12. He is 29, but could anchor our defence for the next 3-4 years and train Ed / Amir.
4. Trade for a pick in the mid teens and draft Biyombo - this is optional if the opportunity is there.
5. Resign Barbosa to a 5 year 30 MM

This leaves a gap at SF - but we have James Johnson and Kleiza already and can sign someone to the min

PG - Parker, Bayless
SG - Derozan, Barbosa
SF - Johnson, Kleiza, Weems (at min)
PF - Bargnani, Johnson
C - Chandler, Davis, draft or sign dorsey back

Thoughts ?

I think this mixes in some 29 year old vets, changes the culture and lets our young guys see winning as opposed to another season of losing.

Chandler is not coming the Raps. Mark Cuban will lock him up in Dallas. if there is one owner you can't outbid, it is Mark Cuban. I don't mind Parker, but want to see what else we can get for the 5th pick. We have 2 days to get something better.

Feschuk still says that Bargs is on the trading block, btw.

http://www.thestar.com/sports/basketbal ... ring-casey

In other words: He’ll let Bargnani and the others know when they’re working too hard. It’ll be interesting to see how the GM-coach harmony weathers, say, Bargnani’s first prolonged sit-down, this assuming the Italian, a current resident of the trading block, sticks around past the off-season.

Assuming Knight is off the board, and we don't want to pick Val at 5 for some reason:

#5 (and maybe Bayless) to HOU for Goran Dragic (assuming option is picked up for next year), #14, and #23.

Then, turn around and flip #14, #23 to MIL for #10. At 10, take Biyombo or Val if he falls this far.

Walk out of the draft with Dragic and Val/Biyombo.

*I'm a huge Dragic fan btw*

To Pho: #5, Bargnani

To Tor: #13, Jared Dudley, Robin Lopez

Would Phoenix do this? Maybe throw in Bayless? They already have Gortat and Hill at the same spots, so maybe Dudley and Lopez arre gettable.

I like it for Toronto because we'd get 2 glue guys that fill big wholes on the team -- a centre and a 3 -- while still maintaining a lottery pick (maybe we could get Jimmer, Biyombo, Morris, etc.)

What do you think?

well we all no the 'no playing time' threat doesn't work with Andrea

though Casey did say he was willing to talk or do whatever it takes to help players.

If Kanter gets to 5 I would like to draft him and ransom him to Washington for 6 and 18, Jamison/Carter style.

I think Bargnani is better than anything in that trade and the #5 is the second best thing in that trade.

Raptors Receive:
Draft rights to Brandon Knight
2012 first round pick (unprotected)
Rip Hamilton
Ben Wallace

Detroit receives:
Andrea Bargnani
Jose Calderon

Its basically Andrea for 2012 pick and Knight, Jose and Rip are brought into it to make the deal work financially.

OR

Raptors trade:
Cash

Any team trades:
2nd round pick

2 expiring vets that help now. A young big to add to the Scottie timeline
I'd prefer to keep Stew and give Monte Morris
I'd really prefer to keep Morris and Stew and give the great Killian Hayes and 2nd round picks

Wow, someone thinks Bargnani is worth 2 lottery picks!
My jaw dropped when I read this one.
Why not 3 or 4 lottery picks?
