Toronto gave away too many possessions with poor decisions and Boston ate well off the turnovers. It was interesting to see Nurse go with the small line-up for the closing quarter. I know they had success but OG looked gassed.

Guys like Ibaka and Gasol were starters their whole careers and they suddenly became afterthoughts in the biggest moment. What kind of impact will that have on their free agency decision? I could see Gasol leaving for Europe, but Ibaka leaving would be tough. Still, I can't see him staying if they benched him.

Toronto better look out for bigs in free agency and the draft. Jakob Poeltl and a new guy like Jalen Smith or Daniel Oturo might make sense. Not championship level, but building towards the future a bit.

Now that my blood pressure has normalized, I'mat peace with the result. While Siakam's struggles on the offensive end hurt us alot, his defense was great. I can understand why nurse rode him so hard. The live ball turnovers were inexcusable and just murdered us. I've loved gasoline but he just wasn't helping us on either end. Truthfully nurse should have played ibaka 30+mins this game. Boston is a very talented team with several great defensive players and a great coach and they deserve full credit for the win but man, it just feels like we lost this game more than they won it. We had so many bonedheaded plays and again the tos killed us.

Lol like Tatum kept bating him every time and he fell for it flying around like an idiot. I noticed that about every player aside from OG and maybe Lowry

Hackett wrote:We went to the final possession with the best team in the Bubble. For all the things we did wrong, we must have done something right to be in that situation. As bad as every player supposedly was, we were one call away from winning this game, and there were a lot of missed calls, and frankly, some that shouldn't have been called period.

Pound for pound, we stood our ground. In the end we were our own worst enemy, but that is understandable considering how much time the older guys were on the floor.

The minutes our starters played, I am impressed that we still had gas in the tank and that no one got seriously hurt. Thank you boys, for an entertaining series. Hold your heads up high!

I agree with your other points but Boston is not the best team in the bubble. They may not even be the best team in the East in the bubble.

I said this in another thread, but I think more recognition should be given to the fact that Nurse was also playing the guys that got us a championship. This was their 'see if they could run it back' season. Masai and Nurse were clearly respecting the champs. I get that it was frustrating to watch things like the ghost of Gasol being wheeled out every game, I was yelling at my TV when it was happening, but I also think Nurse did the right thing by respecting the team that got us a championship. I think we create good culture by doing that, players know we'll treat them right if they achieve. Next year I expect to see some reasonable line-up changes.

I am totally fine with the outcome, fine with the season.
We fought about our weight against Boston and were still right there. We have the best coach in the NBA. We just need a legit one-on-one NBA scorer ala Zach Lavine, Wiggins type..and see what Nurse does with that

This team is pretty bad, but with heart. Pre-kawhi and post-kawhi end of story.

At the end of the day we lost because our half court offense was the worst of the playoff teams, and sort of that issue is on Nurse.

Just can’t believe nurse started Gasol in all 7 games and also gave him some serious minutes. A guy like that shouldn’t get any minutes.

Pascal was horrible.

Couple of poor turnovers and bad decisions on shots from Pascal and FVV, but otherwise a solid showing from the boys. Its a shame, but there is always next year.

I said numerous times that I was already satisfied with where we got (G7 against a more talented team in the 2nd round) and that I just wanted us to go down swinging, but man...that really hurt. We played like absolute garbage for 75% of the game yet still had a chance late. I honestly don't know how we were only down 2 with less than a minute to go. Turnovers killed us and almost everyone was crap on the offensive end. That was the first game that Boston really out-worked us too. It seemed like they got almost every 50/50 ball -- and the biggest was obviously the Tatum OREB after Williams missed back-to-back FTs. If we come up with that board, there's a chance we push that game to OT. Just too many mental errors down the stretch especially and it hurts even more knowing that Miami was the only other team standing in our way of another Finals appearance. Even with Siakam stinking it up, I think we would have handled the Heat in 6. Now I'm stuck rooting for the Celtics to win it all.

At the beginning of the year, I said to myself that this team was 2nd round playoff team. Turns out that was the case. Realistically we'd have just as much trouble against Miami as we did against Boston. Basically, we'd have to clutch and grab and win ugly to have a chance. Then if by some miracle we made it to the finals, I don't see us standing a chance against the Clippers, but maybe the Lakers since we match up well with them for whatever reason, that was the only path I saw for us to repeat. In the end, we didn't have a steadying presence on the team and a lack of composure did us in.

It was a fun year with a lot of great moments. Feel bad for Siakam. I hope he grows from this.

A more plausible reason is Gordon Hayward getting hurt cost us the repeat.

Hayward's defense isn't great and maybe Smart doesn't hit 5 treys in 3 minutes.

We knew half court offense in the playoffs could be an issue at the start of the season. It really showed in this series. How is this going to improve? Our strength was our bench and Nurse abandoned it for a 7 man rotation. When you don't have shot creators, you need play to your strengths. Nurse ran these guys into the ground.
