here's the format they need... 2 dunks for each of 4 categories,

Round 1:
2 x toss dunk, 2 x 1-footed dunk, 2 x 2-footed dunk

Final round-top 2 totals:
2 x freestyle dunk, 2 sudden death tie break rounds, if no winner, highest score for all rounds is champ

Trying to understand why Jaylen Brown even entered the contest? If I was him I would work on going left instead of dunking against G League talent

I truly thought he had some crazy dunks if he was entering it. Like the dude already got his 300M contract. Wtf did he need to do this lol.

Should an all-star be able to dribble? That's a very pertinent question.

I'm glad I didn't watch this trash. I juet watched the Scottie highlights from the skills competition. Dude should have been in the 3pt competition.

I took one look at the dunk contest roster and noped the hell out of there. Might as well rename it the G-League Dunk Contest.

Eh, that sucked but he was pretty fire for literally everything else, even 3pt shooting, cept maybe halfcourt shots like oooooooo.

Good on the Pacers for abusing the passing rules but he was great there from what I saw.

If anything Bacharo looked super meh overall. He's not but that's how he looked.

He did shoot well but he's not a shoot 30 shots in a row well type of shooter. Off passes in rhythm he's pretty decent ala the skills 3pt shooting.

I mistakenly watched the dunk contest. Worst I’ve seen, and in so many ways. Even the potential McClung bright side of it was deflated by the apparently arbitrary scoring and the rapidly increasing odds against his ever being a regular on any NBA roster but this one.

The ridiculously late blind dunk was probably the low point…or maybe just the sheer volume of unoriginal tributes to past dunks.

Honestly, I dont like what they've done to the dunk contest. I don't want to see G-League players in the dunk contest, I don't put on All-Star weekend to see Mac McClung

Was 2016 the last good dunk contest?

The 3-point contest was fun to watch, I always enjoy it. Even that seemed a little much this year, the lights flashing, court lighting up and all that. I was surprised the players could even concentrate on shooting with all that going on.

I thought it was funny when one of the broadcasters said something to the effect of, "Bird won this with only 17-points, look how far shooting has come". Sure...but these guys get those deep 3's for extra points, and a full money ball rack worth extra points. It's not quite apples to apples

I left before the dunk contest and it looks like I didn't miss anything. I saw all the dunks in rapid succession and the only ones that stuck out were the McClung tap (first dunk) and the Toppin left hand between-the-legs. McClung's overall output wasn't as good as last year though. I know they keep it out of tradition, but the dunk contest needs to be scrapped.

I went to watch some highlights and noped out really quick. Just bright neon, ridiculousness. It’s just a insane spectacle of awful.

All-star weekend been so corny for years. Over commercialized and the over use of gimmicks to incorporate and pump their latest mainstream sell-out to the masses. Even worse in the social media age.

Be cool if the dunk competition was replaced as an elimination tournament of HORSE where they are forced to rotate dunks and shots. With no commercialized gimmicks and mainstream props. But never going to happen, the vault of shoving as much garbage as possible into the viewers of pro sports is wide open now. They'll keep adding and looking for more ways to sneak chit in.

He should've put on a Demar throwback jersey to pay homage to that move.

Brown had no business being in the competition, let alone a finalist. Just yawn inducing.

The scoring was very, very dumb. Like they were going senile and confusing the dunks. In terms of the event, I look at what new technology or marketing they're going to do more than they play. They're trying to appeal to the Generation Z, not dudes that were around to see Jordan play.

The Gen Zers in this forum, what do you think of social media / technologyness of this event?

My standards are usually pretty low for the dunk contest, but that was genuinely awful. The on court gimmick further proves how much of a joke this has become.
