I honestly didn't want RJ and thought IQ would help the team and it's been the opposite...RJ has improved significantly as a player overall imo and maybe IQ was just taking advantage of bench units in NY but he just seems "regressed" from what I thought he was with the Knicks. He doesn't even look like a 6th man spark plug anymore tbh. He just seems kinda average, pretty disappointing. I'd really love for him to catch fire and prove me wrong.
I felt that way from the beginning. I am not saying this is you, but most people.bought into the narrative that IQ was a potential future allstar & RJ was a throw in.
I just wanted to watch and see. It didn't take.me long to figure out who I preferred. I still like.PG's who are above average defenders. IQ is not that

I notice that when Barnes doesn’t get the ball early in the game he plays listlessly like this. Not an excuse btw. That shouldn’t matter.
I find it strange that Masai believed in Scottie that much to build around him. He is a flawed player and will be difficult to build around,

They had alot of luck as well.....there's plenty of teams that tanked "properly" but didn't have that luck.
Their front office has done a damn good job and every great franchise in history gets luck. Castle at 4 was an amazing pick, Carter Bryant at 13 might be the sleeper of the draft. Savvy signings like getting one of the best defensive bigs in Kornet for very cheap, while giving up peanuts for Fox.
They also still have a pick swap with Atlanta coming up.
for sure they deserve credit....great organization, sprinkle some luck on top of that and you get envy from every other fanbase.
but if Detroit got that Wemby luck they'd be the talk of the NBA

You can not agree with the trade, but pretending like we are "losing" good players because of it is silly. If Ochai was actually "good" and we think he is part of the future, we would make the moves necessary to keep him especially with RJ being an expiring next season.
It isn’t just about Ochai, he’s just one example. What if Sandro really works out and is in line for a significant raise? Can we keep him? Or does another team with more flexibility outbid us? You’re being willfully blind on the implications of having an expensive top heavy roster with players that don’t necessarily complement each other.
It would be different if RJ was on a 4 year deal, but he's an expiring next season. So yes, I think we have the flexibility to keep anyone that's actually "good".
