The Clips seem to be coming to their senses and gauging Bledsoe's value correctly with the latest update, so maybe that Tyreke idea is just a pipe dream. But I still wouldn't be opposed to adding another ball handler/creator to this team.

If we never acquired Gay and still kept Eddy, we would be in a much better position to reconstruct our team.
I have a feeling that Masai will tank because he believes that the team is soo far from contending.
Expect some surprising trades this offseason. (for good or worse)

Think you need to go back further, to the DD extension. Once we had $20M per for 13/14/15 committed to DD, AB and all their faults, we were cooked.

Trade #1:

To TOR: Gordon + Vasquez
To LAC: Bargnani
To NOH: Butler + Derozan

Trade #2:

To TOR: Millsap S&T
To UTA: Kleiza + Gray + Ross

Lowry / Vasquez
Gordon / SG
Gay / Fields
Millsap / Amir / Acy
Val / C

not bad at all.

most likely to decline is the Wolves imo. Two lotto picks for an oft-injured (but productive) guy on a near max deal is steep. But then again, they are trying to convince Love to stick around and Flip Saunders is now running things, so who knows.

Well that's right along the lines I was thinking. Love is getting restless and wants to start winning now. We're trying to clear our books of big deals a rebuild (hopefully, DeRozan also seems more available than ever before) and Pelicans have not made it a secret that they are trying to move Gordon.

IMO this is a good risk to take for Wolves. Why? Because they will need to re-up both Pek and Budinger this offseason which would eat whatever little cap room they have left. They have talent but really not enough to make the strides needed to keep Love. Gordon gives them another reliable option on offense that can shoot the 3 and is probably the best SG they could acquire given the assets they have to offer. Rubio/Gordon/Budinger/Love/Pek is a pretty good starting line up.

Pelicans do this to rid themselves of Gordon and get back another decent SG on a much cheaper, shorter deal to pair with their new All-Star in Jrue Holiday. They save in the short and long term and Holiday, DeRozan, Anderson and Davis aren't bad starting points.

Toronto - we should be rebuilding. Moving out the deals of DeRozan and Kleiza frees up some future space and we get a few prospects to evaluate. I've always been high on Muhammad's potential but IMO, Derrick WIlliams isn't that good and would be more of a salary ballast though I'd be more than happy if he blossomed into something. Minnesota is at risk of losing their star and don't have time to wait until prospect develop. We'd be taking advantage of their situation. We'd have a ton of talent to evaluate in Ross, Muhammad, WIlliams and Jonas. Not to mention we'd still have Bargnani and Lowry to move which could yield picks. I think it makes a lot of sense all around.

Atlanta chose not to give the qualifying offer to Ivan Johnson. Toronto should target this guy an a cheap unrestricted free agent. He is going to come cheap and provide better defensive value than his contract.

Would Evan Turner be a good buy-low get?

He's a real good playmaker, and imo, would be the ideal kind of player to pair with Jonas Valanciunas, due to his P'n'R ability.

Doug Collins *****ed Turner's development.

assuming the Knick deal gets done.

To TOR: Millsap S&T
To UTA: Kleiza + Gray + Acy + NYK 1st Round Pick

- stretched provision used on Fields.

Lowry / Maynor (via MLE)
Derozan / Ross
Gay / Novak
Millsap / Amir
Val / Camby

love that team. Amir can backup the 5 with Novak getting 3/4 minutes assuming Camby isnt healthy. Roster filled with minimum players.

What do you guys think about nabbing him on the cheap to back up Lowry? Hasn't been stellar since his rookie year, but still could be one of the better backup guards on the market.

I'd definitely do that. I'm only looking at his basic stats, but he's been very consistent over his 4 years in the league, by the looks of it.

He'd fit into the scheme whether they wanted to tank and he ends up the starter, or push for the playoffs and he backs up Lowry (or Bledsoe). I'd give him 3.5-4 million.

Camby better not retire.

Onto other news .. Eric Maynor or Beno Udrih as a backup PG? Both of them can shoot and distribute very well, and are big upgrades on our previous talent. I feel amped up now that this Bargnani character is going away

He never fit in Carslile's system at all .. worth a good look if you ask me .. still has solid upside. His decision making can be questioned, though I don't think he was a terrible fit in Indiana at all actually iirc

I wonder if its worth getting rid of a few later picks to guarantee we get wiggins?

Do you think whoever drafted Wiggins would trade

Wiggins for Tor 2013 1st, 2014 1st, 2015 1st?

We don't need to build around picks once we have wiggins and val we can fill in with vets.

Even if that trade was legal, no team that got Wiggins would do it.

Teams can't trade back to back first rounders. I doubt that many teams would do that anyway, unless something like the following happened:

Team X drafts Wiggins, Raptors pick 3rd and trade the 3rd, a future 1st rounder, and some young high potential player (e.g. Ross) for Wiggins. It'd help if the other team already had a good small forward. Still, it might not happen because of Wiggins' potential star power.

We should revisit the Bledsoe trade, and flip Novak + DeRozan for Bledsoe, Butler & Bullock.
