CROWN: VIDEO Undecided solid PG Mike L'Africain of Loyola

Post#64 » by HoopsGod » Tue Feb 1, 2011 12:58 am

St. Ignatius Of Loyola point guard Mike L'Africain is having an excellent senior year, his team has 38-6 winning record and are a strong contender for this year's 4A OFSSA championships. The 6-foot UNDECIDED lead guard is talented, confident in big game situations and is the type of player you want controlling your offense. His list of schools include Ottawa U, Laurentian , Bishops, McGill, Carleton, Western. He has been in contact with a few NCAA Division 1 schools. There’s no time table on his school decision but whoever lands L'Africain will definitely have something to be excited about.

Check out Gilbert Muako's piece at http://www.crownmagonline.com for all the details.

Wanted to shout out Flagrant Fouls for the nice vid on the Anthony Bennett posterization!
Loved the stare down into the camera after he smashed dude HARD!
Nice work Birdman!

Bennett to me is a straight up phenom. Dude is hyper-athletic and skilled. He's got an outside
game that's burgeoning as well...enabling him to bury threes with ease.
But if you're not careful he will fly in and cram it down your throat...not sure what his V(Vertical) is but he gets up high and has a condor-like wingspan. Definitely one of my favourite players coming out of Canada. He's garnering more and more interest now and will be an (SBC) Super Blue Chipper by the time he enters college. If he can add a couple inches he will be very dominant at the next level. He played terrific this past summer in Germany for the U17's but was also going through some injuries after that. Seems that he has fully recovered and is ready to ascent the hoops rankings Stateside. Let's go Mr. Bennett.

Thanks Drew!

Just wanted to share that another player had committed with McMaster - Joe Rocca

http://www.flagrantfouls.com/2011/02/jo ... -mcmaster/

""Rocca has widely been regarded as one of the elite shooting prospects in the country. He has also been named as a Top 100 nominee for the All-Canada Classic, set to feature the best Canadian content on one court in June.

After receiving interest from all across Canada and several NCAA programs, Joe's final shortlist of schools before his decision included McMaster, Windsor, and Western."

To those that follow recruiting for less "elite" Canadian ballers that get scholarship offers or interest at low level D-1 schools?

Historically is there alot of recruits that spurn the lesser D1 schools to stay and play in Canada?

Yup. Everyone has there own situations and reasons when selecting where they will play. Sometimes people prefer to stay home and depending on the schools get a better education.

Andrew Wiggins interview on the CBC!

Post#72 » by HoopsGod » Tue Feb 8, 2011 3:22 am

Check out the piece CBC did on Andrew Wiggins and the Vaughan Voyageurs last week.
It was shot during a York Region league game between Denison and Vaughan.
It was billed as a matchup between two of Canada's best but Kevin Pangos was unable to
play due to a strained right thumb that he suffered in a game against Mother Theresa in at the
St. Mike's Invitational.
Your's truly gets a cameo shot while interviewing Andrew as well...funny stuff.
Scroll forward to the 28:50 mark on the vid as the feature is near the end!

I have to say, it is pretty amazing all these high-schoolers from canada are bringing the noise. I've even starting watching Texas games of late.

Re: Official HS thread - Feb 9th Kiski's Brandon Bos Undecided

Post#78 » by HoopsGod » Thu Feb 10, 2011 2:20 am

Its been a shaky season for 6-foot-2 senior point guard Brandon Bos. The former Markham Secondary star had high hopes entering his senior year at Kiski Prep thinking he’d be joining fellow Canadians Sim and Tanveer Bhullar and Stefan Jankovic only to see the trio all depart from the school.

Official HS thread - Feb 9th McMaster inks Loyola's Presutti

Post#79 » by HoopsGod » Thu Feb 10, 2011 2:44 am

McMaster University strikes again landing another top guard in the country. Having already picked up 6-foot-5 forward Brett Sanders, 6-foot-4 guard Aaron Redpath and 6-foot-3 shooting guard Joe Rocca. It came down to a decision between York U, McGill, Bishop’s, U of T, Ottawa and McMaster for 6-foot-2 Loyola star guard Adam Presutti. In the end, with Mac’s credentials academically, top notch facility and a strong incoming class, Presutti saw the perfect situation and gave his pledge to the Marauders on Saturday.

Check out the piece here from Crown by Gilbert Muako

Wow Mac is gonna be even more stacked. Might give Carleton a run.

In other news the McDonald's All American roster will be unveiled tonight. It is said to have 3 Canadians in it (Kabongo, Birch and Wiltjer) which would be a great turnout for Canada. Lets wait for the official lineups before we get too excited though.
