KenPom which considers margin and oppoisiton has them #11.

Polls do not correlate to seed for non BCS teams, neither does RPI for non BCS teams. Its basic if you have tracked brackets for years.

If they are considered the second best team in the MWC (which is what they would be if they loss tonight) they will not get a two seed. If they win tonight, it becomes much more possible

i dont see them losing tonight kenpom has them as a 3 right now before tonights game -- byu is still very underrated. and rpi -(and polls) definitely do correlate to bracket rankings, i dunno what you're talking about.

This discussion becomes more meaningless as BYU wins right now, improving their chances of being head of the MWC by tourney time.

Non-BCS teams that are ranked in the top 10 in polls, almost always get underseeded in comparison to their ranking. Basic bracketology to be honest. Not sure what else to tell you

Not by tournamanet time. The Big East teams continue to play each other and boost each other's RPI's, while BYU will not get the same benefits playing MWC teams.

Teams in the Big Ten and Big 12 will also get the same benefit in relation to MWC teams. That is how the RPI goes.

non-bcs teams get screwed for the most part.
Despite that, MWC is as respected of a conference you can get for non bcs. furthermore, their rpi is extremely high (although will go down), and that is definitely considered.

Even with a loss to SDSU in their next game, I think they still make it as a 2 seed.

Same here, as brilliant as he has been in college ...I think NBA defenders will rip him apart.

Yep....

His hype is so similar to Adam Morrison and JJ Reddick...

The College game is so different compared to the NBA, High School, Euro league and FIBA

Fredette isn't even as good as JJ Reddick was, I do not think his game will translate as JJ was the superior shooter.

Obviously something is making experts skeptical, as he is projected to go in the late first/early second round.....but wow that pretty impressive tonight (first time ive seen him play) Reddick was mostly a shooter, some balls skills but nothing like i saw from Fredette. He actually seemed to handle the ball pretty well and he even had a little of the Nash changing speeds going.

I wonder if he wasnt white if he would be thought of differently? (not trying to make it a race thing, just curious)

I think size has to do with his draft stock though, he's 6''2. He plays like an undersized combo guard.

Reddick was a deadly spot up shooter in duke and he's not crazily slow like Adam Morrison, he's so good at using picks and screens back in college. I usually think a guard with crazy deep range, and with a quick release spot up jumper and knowing use screens and picks effectively, that type of game can translate to the NBA a lot easier. Think Korver and Reddick.

Fredette plays with quickness, knows how to handle the ball, can shoot...anything except court vision and passing (he's a big time scorer, can't see why he should pass lol)...however this is deceptive though. He's able to do all that against college-level players ...only? It's kind of like HB able to go grant hill mode against highschoolers but going Marvin Williams mode in college-level. It's so deceptive.

I wouldn't be against picking up jimmer with our Miami pick and then working to get JaJuan Johnson with the 2nd round pick..piled with the top 5 pick hopefully that'd be a great draft haul imo

nvm we dont have a second round pick

Yeah he did certainly remind me of Reddick a bit with the super quick release, but as you mentioned he is only 6'2.

I guess it would come down to the question of whether or not he can run the point. Seemed quick enough and in all fairness to him, it didnt look like he had anyone to pass to that could finish
(BYU missed a lot of chip-ins from around the bucket). To me he just looked crafty, i bet this guy goes in the top 20, especially if he has a big tournament or BYU wins a few rounds.

Araujo really tarnished the image of BYU to me for a long time...
