He is also injured until next January or February. Not many teams are excited at the notion of picking up a player on a lengthy contract who is recovering from a serious injury. There is also not much of an indication that Kleiza could even return to being the player he once was.

Yea I knew he got the operation done in Vail by that famous doctor, so he's also rehabilitating there?
Kleiza probably won't be able to contribute much until the 2012-2013 season.

I knew it was kind of serious, but not to this extent.
Now I just feel bad for the guy and I hope he comes back strong.

Let's just hope Kleiza can provide us with 1 3's in 5 shot a game.

Thread is about Kleiza, not Derozan. Oh wait, Demar needs to take 9 3s to make one.

Well, good thing Demar doesn't shoot 3's unless he's forced to.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
Kleiza was definitely brought in to be a stop gap starter that would hopefully hit the pine someday with better options. I would have liked Colangelo to take a flier on Beasley instead as a stop gap with some upside, but the guy is so dead set on who he likes.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

For all of Bargs' flaws, there's no way Derozan could live up to Andrea as even the potential "franchise" player. If you think Demar is the future then good luck to you. Demar as a first option would be comical.
Who even knows if Derozan will have a better NBA career than Kleiza when everything is said and done. Linas just recently turned 26. Plus Kleiza has a few nice international accolades.
Kleiza gets 4.6M a season. He's not Kobe and does not have a 23M a year contract. My bad for making the 3 pt FG comparison... didn't know comparing two players from the same team would make some of you guys emotional. No need to comment further about it. It is what it is.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
I think Kleiza might come back and be a good back-up SF but then again his numbers are better than J Johnson on about the same team and the same minutes as a starter. We atleast got LK as a FA just money where as, we spent the 25th draft pick to get JJ and will pay him too. I bet BC would sign him for more than LK just his way.

Lol, we'll agree to disagree then. I personally don't think DeMar is a franchise player either but we're not making him the first option yet are we? And for the kleiza comparison, I know you have are somewhat biased towards him since he is your countryman, but DeMar's sophomore season is already better than any of Kleiza's 5 years in the NBA. DeMar has a lot of work to do but dude is only 21, he will improve.

Who ever said Demar was going to be a franchise player? You don't need to insult him to make Kleiza look better. Demar is already better than Kleiza will ever be. I hope we can get rid of Linas' contract because he's flat out terrible, don't think everybody's forgotten just how bad he was. When Sonny Weems beats you out for a position, you're a scrub.

He's better then Kleiza right now so I don't know why it won't continue in the future. Btw Kobe ripped the Nuggets apart during that series so bringing up that Kleiza helped guard him doesn't say much about his defence.

im pretty sure it would be better to build with derozan rather than bustnani.. the one year bargs is the clear number one option we dont even have 21 wins. so clearly bargnani is the comic here.
and youre just hating with that kleiza comment, c'mon son..

I love how he brings up the fact that Kleiza just turned 26. DeMar is still only 21 and is already better than him.

Countryman lol? I'm from the US. I do follow European basketball as well as some of the popular national Teams: Spain, Serbia, Lithuania, etc.
I don't want to get too much into the Derozan comparison since him and Linas are totally different players. (Originally I just commented on the 3 pt shooting since somehow incorrectly called Kleiza out). Anyway look at Kleiza's last two seasons in Denver.... dude had better stats in less minutes then he does now as a Raptor. Plus Denver even challenged the Lakers somewhat in the playoffs. At the end of the day Kleiza played 23 minutes as a backup to Carmelo on a team that was top 4 in the West. Derozan gets spoon-fed minutes and scores 16.5 points on a team that is 20-53. His other stats are nothing to praise. My main peeve is comparing stats of players on garbage teams. But yea, Derozan is the one with potential. He's solid for 21 but I also don't see him as a franchise player. I'm not hating but I see his limit as a JR Smith or Nick Young type player with a worse jumper and better ability to attack the basket.

Re: Why don't we talk about Kleiza anymore?
Those two seasons were pre-major injury Kleiza. I doubt he'll ever come close to that kind of play again. You don't exactly see people pointing years back on Kevin Garnett's production, why should we do differently for Kleiza?
There's only about 4 or 5 franchise players in the league. Bosh and Carter weren't even franchise players. THe label gets tossed around too frequently

You know Kleiza was injured since the preseason right? Maybe a Kleiza who had serious cartilage damage to his knees is terrible. If you want to judge an injured player then so be it.
Sonny only got the starting job when Kleiza was injured. Linas missed several games and in those Weems played really well. He averaged like 18 pts a game so Triano decided to start him even when Kleiza returned. Then eventually when Weems had his own back issues Kleiza took over.
Starting is overrated anyway. Kleiza played well with Barbosa. Kleiza was far better backing Carmelo on the Nuggets then he was starting for the Raptors. Again, I don't want to be naive and judge him this season since he was hurt in the first preseason game. Only an ignorant fool would do that lol.
