To get max value Kyle needs to wait until Bron and Melo make up their minds. The teams that miss out on those guys are most likely to overpay Kyle. HOU is the most likely to whiff, as well as LAL. HOU has the better chance of winning though.

ATL could become a threat as well. They just cleared cap space and don't see sold on Teague for some reason.

But if MU says Kyle has 24 hours to decide that could pressure him to take the big $$ before Bron and Melo decide.

You risk pissing off Kyle a bit, but if taking big $$ from TOR pisses him off then he probably isn't a guy you want long term anyway.

That would be absolutely disgusting.

Yep. There's slightly over paying and wanting a ransom, he can walk at 15 mill. I would rather pay Bosh that type of money than Lowry.

If it was the Bosh of 2-3 years ago, yes. I'm skeptical about how good Bosh really is nowadays. I think he's actually in a very noticeable decline. People can make all the excuses they want but his numbers have fallen every year on Miami, and I don't buy into the "he's now accepting a smaller role" excuse. He's falling off.

Instantly sign the dotted line because he knows that's the most money he will ever see in his life. I expect this new contract to become an albatross by year 2, so not too enthused with overpaying a PG 12 million a year when he's at best a borderline all-star.

If we never retain our players we are going to suck forever

Unless ownership goes deep into the tax you can't win by overpaying your free agents in a salary cap league either. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't with our high taxes and freezing winters. We are at quite the disadvantage up here :(

Your right. My problem with it is he has pretty much played his way into a nice contract and we aren't in a position where people are going to be taking a pay cut to play for us.

The same people saying they don't want to overpay him are still going to be ballistic when we lose him to Miami. Lose-Lose situation.

if lowry leaves it gonna suck and further reaffirm players using toronto as a trampoline to bigger and better places. I mean what else could you want.

Kyle's getting paid, as he should. He's been playing for peanuts for a while and he's not getting any younger/better of a player here on out. I just hope he stays relatively healthy for the duration of his contract.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

48 million for 4 years with the 4th year being a player option, take it or leave it.

I was hoping this new management wouldn't overpay for mediocrity.

If we overpay him it will massively suck for us also. How long did it take for us to recover from GG's drunk-punch spending in the summer of 2001? Sometimes you take a hit in image for the long term good.

Lou Williams can play some minutes as a back up pg, not the best option but he's the same as vasquez, more of a scorer.

For those saying this is a bad idea, let me remind you there was once a thread on this board that said "Landry Fields as our 3rd string pg?"

Out to change the perception by again overpaying?! Makes sense.

Masai's pitch to Kyle: why leave to play with LeBron when you can stay and play with the Brazilian Kevin Durant?

Given Masais history I just do not see him overpaying for Lowry. Will Lowry be a rich man, yes, but I don't think any contract he gives Lowry will be more than Masai thinks is what he worth. I can never imagine a scenario that Masai gives out those GG and BC contracts to keep someone and massively overpay. I have no doubt that Masai feels he can find an adequate replacement for Lowry if he does not remain with the Raps, and I trust that if that happens the replacement will be very good.

Between 11.5 million and tops 12 million, is okay for Kyle over 4 years.

Given Masai's history, I fully expect him to overpay Lowry...just to retain an asset. He overpaid for Nene and then overpaid to keep Javale McGee.

Masai might not want to overpay personally, but Leiweke has been bragging to almost everyone about doing anything to keep Lowry here. If Masai gets that directive from higher up he will be forced to do it.

Colo is gone for sure, and Vasquez will be the one guy we will have to sacrifice to make sure Lowry and possibly Patterson (or a patterson replacement) are brought back.

IF Lowry is back, and after the Lou Williams deal, Vasquez isn't needed as much. I would LOVE to keep him, love his attitude, his swagger, his love for our city, but it's a business at the end of the day.
