5.5 would be a dream but I honestly think he will get an offer in that 6.5-6.75/year range and probably closer to the higher end of that in order to dissuade us. Some team will try to test us with him. I would still match that, btw, but I think he's one of the more underrated backup bigs in the game and feel his best years are ahead of him.

I still think you are a little high. You're getting close to starter money for a player most teams won't start. Orlando, for example, has contacted Patterson but it just drafted Aaron Gordon, and you have to believe will be starting him over any other power forward. With Patterson, we can also offer a fourth year and larger increases. And with his combination of age and good health, a fourth year would not be bad at all.

Hope so! Would be nice.

I think we'll be saying goodbye to Fields and Hayes like we said to Salmons

What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

I think this is the plan. Attracting impact free agents for this team has always been difficult. Flipping ending contracts, picks for a starting piece is the plan.

I also think trading for Lou Williams was an indirect way of using the MLE.

All those pro-VC talks this year and they're not gonna bring him back? I don't think so, unless he just doesn't want to come back.

Fields and Hayes' contracts annoy the hell outta me. It makes me happy knowing they are both in the last year of their contracts, however.

man this team has a ton of potential.

young guys that will hopefully develop (bruno, bebe, jv).

young guys that are developing nicely now (ross, demar, and if we keep them vasquez and patterson)

young vets (amir, lowry)

Crazy that this team could be a 50 win team next year and next summer we can add potentially a max level FA.

If they end of not being able to afford Vasquez, how would you guys feel about Bo McCalebb for a backup?

Undrafted out of the University of New Orleans in 2008, McCalebb has taken the long road to professional basketball relevance. He's starred for Macdeonia in international competition and scored efficiently in Europe.

McCalebb is an interesting, last-minute addition to the free-agency pool, and he'll immediately insert himself into front-office conversations. Might he, at 29 years old, be a better signing than Steve Blake? How about Devin Harris? It's hard to know, as he's never played in the league, but McCalebb's ability to get to the basket and shoot from long range suggests he'll be a solid option as a backup.

On Gerald Henderson vs Derozan:
"Yes. Hendo is quite a bit better than DeMar.
So yes, I do believe he's currently the better player and do project that will continue to be in the future. I would also take Turner over DD."

If we could bring in Carter, and re-sign Pat and GV:

Lowry/Vasquez
DeRozan/Williams
Ross/Carter/Fields/Novak/Caboclo
Johnson/Patterson/Hansbrough
Valanciunas/BeBe/Hayes

That's one too many. Something I could see making sense would be a three way between Tor/Dallas/Miami

Chalmers to Dallas
Novak to Miami
Carter to Toronto

That looks nice, but leaves us thin in the back court. Either we don't bring over BeBe, or we dump Tyler and re-sign Nando.

If we can come into the season with:

Lowry/Vasquez/Nando
DeRozan/Williams
Ross/Carter/Fields/Caboclo
Johnson/Patterson/Hansbrough
Valanciunas/BeBe/Hayes

That is a real nice roster, and a real deep bench.

With the ample capspace we have in 2015, who should we go after?

VC and Cuban have a good relationship. Chances are he stays with them. We're like the Miami of the VC bidding wars.

2pat is far more important than vasquez. Lou can play some back up minutes, and de colo can be resigned for cheap or we get another cheap 3rd stringer.

Absolutely not. Vasquez is the better and more needed player....I hope PP stays but he is replaceable.

It doesn't really matter - Dallas may be going with another direction.

IMO this will be Vince's last contract, so he has to decide where he wants to finish his career. Dallas has as much chance of winning next season's championship as Toronto (aka almost 0 chance). Plus Vince will have to play in the West - why not come in the East where it is easier to finish off your career, then have your jersey retired and call it a day? That, and Vince still can play ball.

Looks like we're running out of money and roster spots to sign VC or any other SF or back up C...

Looks like we'll stash Daniels somewhere this year as well. I hope we can move Novak somehow at
the very least for an expiring to line up with our other expirings next year even if it means
trading a 2nd round pick or 2.

Lets say Vasquez at 4.5

Patterson at 5.5.

thats 10 million right there. So you would have 4 million below the tax to play with. I dont think that gets VC & i dont see the minutes being there for him. I know many of you guys want him but ive said this since the Lou Williams trade there really isnt any spot for him unless GV walks. In addition, id rather have Vasquez then Carter to be quite honest.

Vince probably wont cost that much - I'd do a 2 yr $7 million and see if he takes it

Hope he takes it? He would be foolish to leave $7M at his age...

I still think he ends up on Miami or something like that.
