Reminder of how much of a mental game it is
Karl Malone top 5 of of all time going to the line
Pippen "Mailman don't deliver on Sunday"
Malone - chokes at line
It is COMPLETLEY mental.
Kyle doesn't have the testicular fortitude. Some got it done don't. He should have really paid attention to his Alma mater when they beat UNC. He could have learned a lot

No idea why he wasn't rested more in the last month with that **** up elbow, but they are certainly paying the price once again.

It's not the subject of this thread, but I blame this on Casey for resting players in the last game of the season. I think it's an idiot move because it takes players out of their rhythm. We've lost the first game of the series 3 years in a row and rested our players in the last game of the season 3 years in a row. The whole team was out of rhythm today. The players should be rested in the second last game of the season, so they have 1 game to tune up before playoffs begin. I've ranted for 3 years about this, but Casey is just too dumb to figure it out. Last year I had called WAS to win in 6. This year, Raps in 6.
Everybody is losing their freaking minds. Nutbars and wingnuts have infested this forum. We've become a public lavatory without cleaning staff.

lmao maybe against role players but if your all stars can't bring it when it matters, they're not really all-stars; they're just a bunch of choke artists. And yes, Casey sucks too.

Since we're splattering blame around like its paint on a Jackson pollock canvas, I blame the fans. The 'Let's Go Raptors!' Chant before tip off was so out of sync it was frightening. Two sides of the arena were completely off time making for a discombobulated chant. Probably the real reason they lost.

Lowry chokes under pressure just like derozan plain and simple
Easy to play well when nothing on the line and no one cares during the regular season....when the big boys turn it up a notch our losers crumble....just the kinda guys they are

Re: Our team is Kyle Lowry, and he is injured /hurt
He is a BIG part of why we win but this team has shown the can win without him.
BUT they need to MOVE the ball and they have to get the other guys going. If they actually bothered getting Powell in particular going, this would be an entirely different game because Indy would either have to loosen their coverage on Kyle and DeMar or Powell would go off for at least 16 or so points and we get a W. Not to mention get Pat some shots too.
The issue is KL and DD, in the Playoffs as usual go into Hero Ball mode and completely forget their teammates. Between their nerves going from the Playoffs and the defences locking into them it's recipe for what has continued to be a disaster. It makes the game very easy for the opposition because they just cue into 2 guys trying to do too much and they bury us into a hole we can't come out of, both in the game and the series. Just like the Nets, eventually they got somewhat going but they lost us the games they shouldn't have with that kind of play. It was either they were really on and we won or not and we were done.
These 2 morons need to remember that in the Playoffs it's STILL a TEAM game. While stars do step up in the Playoffs, they do it WHEN their team needs it not at the detriment of their team.

The weirdest part of all this is our 2 best players are from 2 tough bad ass places like Compton and Philly and then fold up like chairs come playoff time. Who woulda thunk it. Ice Cube and Rocky Balboa would be ashamed.

Lowry didnt just choke today. Hes been shooting poorly since last month.
His body just cant handle 82 games. Casey should have just shut him down completely for a month to heal that elbow.

If he can't handle a full season and dial it up for the playoffs, especially after "getting in shape", then there is no point in keeping him around. It will just get worse as he ages.

Lowry rested SEVERAL games in the past 3 weeks. His elbow from all reports is not a huge problem, certainly it shouldn't affect his decision making. The guy isn't tired, he just laid an egg.

That's why you get a DMC which would prolong a Kyle's career.
Kyle's body cannot handle all that stress as the primary guy..some of that stress must be taken away!!

When you are more worried about your "stars" showing up than your role players you know you are screwed. We need to trade Lowry before he demands a max deal and S/T Demar or trade him a year into his new contract.

So you're suggesting that his shooting falling off a cliff since the elbow injury has nothing to do with the elbow injury? The guy has looked absolutely nothing like the player that carried this team for much of the season for a long while now. This didn't suddenly start today.

I'm saying that it shouldn't make him turn over the ball about 6 times, make poor passing decisions, and not hustle. Lowry's game isn't all about his shooting. And he's looked better shooting the ball in the games leading up to this game. And also, Paul George is currently playing on 2 bum ankles and he's still effective. Expecting Lowry to be at 100% after 82 games is unrealistic, as it is for any player.

Double Helix wrote:Lowry never admits when he's hurt. His FT shooting is indicative of a still serious shooting issue.
The bigger issue is the Pacers have created "rules" for how to handle pick and rolls depending on who is involved.
If Lowry is involved they hedge to dissuade the 3. If Derozan is involved they pack the pain to encourage the long 2 or pass. It's the perfect defensive strategy for these 2 and it looks like the pacers might be experienced enough defensively to execute such a specialized playoff-centric strategy.
I would have to watch the game again to see this happening but I fully trust that you are right. But it seems like you are presenting it as a sort of rare concept, whereas even someone like me who couldn't personally design a specialized playoff-centric strategy against us knows enough to see that when we rely so heavily on 2 players with such predictable games that such strategies are available and likely to work when well applied. This is why I have hated our offensive schemes because we let our guys go 6 for 22 in the season and are somehow surprised when they do it in the playoffs. We don't have any offensive Plan B let alone a plan C or D. Whereas actual contenders either have real superstars or they make the most of what they have, or both. I mean, San Antonio and Golden State both have better offensive first options than we do and yet both still spread the scoring around much more than us. Whereas on the Raps you could count on one hand the games in which DD/KL were not 1-2 in FGA by a large margin. And this is the result. You stop them and you stop the team.

of running the team into the ground when it matters. demar may be a **** player and he definetly doesnt deserve the max but Kyle lowry is the reason we lost and the reason we have been losing in the post season, not demar.

He's looked bad for well over a month now (at least by the incredible standards he set from November-February). Hell, he was shooting under 70% from the line in the preceding 20 games before this one (after a season spent hovering around 90%). And you're seriously trying to tell me this guy is healthy?
The only chance this team had to win a playoff series was to sit him down far more than they did and allow him to (hopefully) recover, but they didn't do it. His performance was hardly surprising.

I'm arguing that he probably never will be healthy as long as he is the lead guard. We sat him 4-5 times near the end of the season, which is about the average amount for any star player. Every year it seems the amount of games we "need" to sit him goes longer and longer; should have sat him 7 games, 10 games, 15 games. Most NBA players are nursing some injury or another by this time of the year. Chris Paul is ALWAYS banged up come April and he still is effective every year in the playoffs on an individual level.
