Cool. What was it that made you (and others from overseas that are in this thread) gravitate to the Raptors?

My Dad works for a Canadian company. He went to Toronto on business and came back with a T-shirt and Stoudamire jersey for me, and that was it.

Slightly OT, I also used to go watch a British basketball team called London Towers (who no longer exist), who were coached by Nick Nurse at the time.

Hi there from Croatia!
9 years that I have been following Raptors, struggling to have a decent life because Raptors usually play after 1AM (CET time/Croatia) :D
I rarely write something here but I enjoy reading stuff from you. I appreciate sense of humor that this community have.

As you can imagine, in Croatia most popular teams are Bulls, Celtics, Spurs, Warriors...
I like "my" Raptors.

born and raised in Toronto, but dual British citizenship due to long tenure in London. you see a few people here wearing raptors apparel but Blue Jays gear is way more popular. I see at least 5 Jays caps, jerseys, etc. on a daily basis here. more basketball fans than baseball fans here though

There are a ton of Cavs and GSW bandwagoners with a few other teams sprinkled in.

Yep same here in Regina. Was at the bar the other night for a game and some goof tried to turn it off for a random hockey game. **** that guy

Trying to watch a raps game in a bar anywhere outside downtown Toronto (minus a basketball specific bar) is a dangerous game.

i live 5 mins from Emirates stadium. it is hilarious how much trolling and graffiti there is against Arsenal lol. tube adverts, toilet stalls, cafe tables, bus stops, etc. you don't see it anywhere to the same extent with the other EPL clubs in London.

I'm from the Maritimes, which is pretty much a different country given that most people forget about the part of Canada east of Quebec. Every time I hear someone from Ontario say they are from the East Coast it drives me nuts.

peralta wrote:i know quite a few Americans but they don't post here...i asked them why Raps? their answer was Vince Carter is the reason they're Raptor fans because of the VC era. Remember the time when Raps would go on an opposing team's arena and most kids are wearing Raptors #15 jersey. Some stayed and grew up staye a Raptors fan. Kinda like Kevin Durant grew up a Raptors fan.

Basically i was actually a bulls fan growing up. Mj was my favorite player and still is when he retired. Vc was dunking like him and doing the same kinda things so he became my fav player. Then i just kinda stuck with it after that

Was on holiday on a cruise about 15 years ago. We had a basketball court on ship. Met some canadian lads who played ball. Were Raptors fans showed me videos of VC15 fell in love with his game. After he left i stuck with Toronto through thick and thin as if i pick a team regardless what happens i stick with them. Hate bandwagoners.

Lithuania.
I'm lurking here since JV was drafted. I was only checking his stats and how he was doing in general. I was more interested in "Heat vs the world" at that time.
Anyway, every season my attachment to Raptors grew and I'm more Raptors fan than I'm JV fan now. He just pisses me off for not playing up to his potential.

That's weird.. I was just in the Philippines last year visiting family and I swear almost everyone I spoke to praised him n spoke very highly of him. He had a public rating of like 90 percent from the Filipino people, highest ever I believe. They spoke of him as the saviour of the people and the country believed he is the one to finally end corruption there. I'm legit curious why u feel the opposite of the majority.
