jv would of done well vs philly, milwaukee he would of had trouble on defense big time

Yeah. Feel the same way. Even though he is in Memphis I still see him as a Raptor & probably always will. Feels like he is on temporary work placement.

We watched him grow from a lanky Lithuanian kid who could barely speak English to a guy who perfectly fit in with the Toronto/ Canadian culture.

The Wasaga Beach story made us feel like he was one of us.

Got damn it JV, if only you learnt how to play better defense.

He's honest to God so gifted offensively, but we wouldn't of made it past the teams we did, without playing the high level of defense.

There where times where I thought JV would've been amazingly valuable for us, especially that 76ers series. Everything got really murky, the 6ers defense got crazy good, nobody could make an open shot. You just know passing the ball to playoff Jonas would've freed up the space.

That being said. Without Gasol, we don't shut down Vuc, Embiid (toss up because JV plays great against him too), Giannis (definitely Gasol's defense was amazing) and make us an amazing team on the defensive side of things.

If Kawhi does leave, wish JV waited so we could've figured a sign and trade or something.

I think JV would have been fine against Philly. He always does well. But he wouldve got smoked against the Bucks. And that is where it wouldve ended.

Yeah. I think JV would have actually been a better fit against Philly. We needed someone to match their aggression/ physicality.

Bang-on there. "The Wall" that Nurse implemented would have been missing a key brick.

People seem to forget that we actually almost lost the bucks series because of Gasol. He almost single handedly lost us both games 1 and 2 with his putrid play on "BOTH" defense and offense, maybe people were not watching those games carefully. He did play well in games 3 and 4 and then in 5 and 6, he was responsible for the bucks going on crazy runs to open up 16 and 17 pt leads in both games respectively. It was ibaka on the floor that got us back in both games, Gasol just had a few plays in the 4 quarter that people remember but forget that he actually played poor if you look at the entire game 5 and 6.

The bucks outscored us for the series when Gasol was on the floor and that's hilarious because we won the series, so the narrative should be we won despite gasol, us being outscored with him on the floor is probably surprising to the casual fans, so please do not give me this narrative that he was the reason we got past the bucks, no it was Kawhi, Norm, Fred crazy lights out shooting and ibaka, definitely not Gasol. I think people need to rewatch that "entire" series and all 4 quarters not just hte 4th quarter highlights on tsn.

JV definitely deserves a ring, what happened to him was a joke. We get to the finals with JV too. I like gasol as a person but he was over the hill, if anything we won despite his poor play.

Embiid does well against JV too, and JV didn't always have big games. Without Gasol's defense we don't best Milwaukee.

jv would ware embiid out, and he couldn't guard pascal. Embiid also doesn't always do well vs jv. And i agree without gasol vs milwaukee we lose, either way ty god for gasol.

Gasol/JV are 2 much different players. Arguing conjecture about how good/bad we would have done with him is a pointless exercise.

JV is a good guy who really it liked it here though, no doubt. Im indifferent to whether he gets a ring though.

I can imagine it from his perspective and I think I’d be conflicted too. He’s a better scorer right now than Gasol and there were times we needed that but Gasol’s defence and ball movement benefited the entire team and he locked down some all star bigs.

I wish there was a way Gasol, JV & Ibaka could all share in this somehow but that just wasn’t possible.

we got outscorwed by milkwaukee with gasol on the floor, we won despite of gasol, he has a terrible game entire 1 and 2 and had atrocious first three quarters in both games 5 and 6 in the milwaukee series. Aask the raptors coaching staff if they think gasol was the reason we won that series and they will flat out tell you no. Nurse admitted he was ready to bench gasol for the series after game 2, that's how bad he was playing and i swear kawhi was ready to kill him after dropping bunnies to him inches from the rim only for him to bobble and turn it over.

JV would have been obliterated by the Redick/Embiid DHO, which Gasol handled masterfully - in addition to defending Embiid straight up.

We got outscored by 9 points (over 6 games) with Lowry on the floor (same as Gasol but in more mins), maybe we should have played FVV instead of him. Thats with Gasol being a -13 after the first 2 games.

We dont know if we get to the finals with JV. We DO know that we win the NBA championship with Gasol.

Why not ask Giannis?

nope he was traded for a worse player, the fact we were outscored in an entire series we won by the losing team when Gasol on the floor really speaks for itself. That shows we won despite of him. There's nothing you can deny about that which is why you turned it towards contract talks. LoL and that's the sad thing, we are stuck paying Gasol 28 million next year when we could have paid JV 15 million.
