Wow... laughable to be in the same sentence with Vince and Bosh.... next move up to you Pascal...

I know, right? Bosh and Vince won one playoff series combined.

We were always going to be operating above the cap due to salary cap holds for Fred, Marc, and Serge. Bigger question is what can you pay Fred while preserving space for Giannis a year from now.

Listen he was one of the best players in the NBA this season. It's a regular season award. Good on the voters for being disciplined in their assessment.

Man was picked 27th overall. We thought he was a superstar. Right now he's a wildcard. That ain't so bad - but it's not so comfortable either.

Also - if Lowry were there instead of Siakam I'd be elated vs scared. Lowry is underrated like few others.

Will people stop saying Siakam's being picked 27th overall as any benefit/positive thing.

He is getting paid the max now, and he should be measured relative to other max players, not players drafted around 27th overall.

I mean our season is over this it technically the main type of content we have to discuss
There's been multiple fred free agency threads in the past week this could certainly effect it

The bonus Siakam is going to get isn't going to drastically warp how the FA process goes

Him being taken 27th and ending up on an All-NBA team is a testament to his work ethic and how much hidden talent of his that no one knew existed. It's absolutely a positive until he clearly plateaus as a player.

Sorry but the cap matters and effects how desirable the team is to that free agent because it has a trickle down effect and forces other roster decisions in the short and long term. So it’s less likely a superstar will want to come because it will be harder to construct an appealing situation for them to join.

Which player has turned down a team in free agency because they didn't like someone's contract..

I've been saying it for months, although it looks like nobody else worreid about it until now. There is no cap room on this team for Norm after 2021 regardless of 3%. They will be trading Powell if they trade anyone. So imo, that is not a big reason and 2-3 million doesn't change that. The only thing that changes that is FVV getting too big an offer elsewhere.

Literally, we ditch McCaw or Johnson and were are even.

It’s more about 2021 and those guys are off the team at that point. So it’s more likely now that we throw in our 1sts with Norm for an upgrade to drop the future salary of of the picks.

Those guys are signed for just as long as Powell. It's not anymore likely... he was always the prime guy we would trade because he has one year left before a big payday.

It has nothing to do with their feeling about his contract. It has to do with the moves this impacts that effect the roster presented to the free agent.

So he “only” averaged 23 points at league average efficiency... you don’t realize that’s not a bad thing.. right?

Sure he isn’t one of the top 5 or even 10 elite scorers, but you can do much much worse as your #1 guy.

He just had probably the 4th or 5th best season in Raptors history behind Kawhi in 2019, Lowry in 2015 or 2016, and then he’s right up there just below with any Bosh or Carter season.

Let’s just chill and get off the guys back.

His season as a whole ended up being below average efficiency, so no it wasn't impressive at all.

All of Bosh's seasons after his sophomore year were better than Siakam's. Vince had at least two better seasons. Even Demar had a couple seasons better than him. Lowry has had 4 or 5 seasons better than Siakam's including this year.

Yeah the less than 1% difference is worth even bringing up

Siakams last season was better than anything Demar ever did. Siakam could’ve had a 52TS% and his defence alone brings him much above Demar. How quickly forget how meh Demar was offensively (his best season is about the same Siakam did last year) and how AWFUL he was defensively.

Siakam > Demar and it isn’t even close. Siakam/Bosh/Carter are all the same caliber of player. Not good enough to be a #1 (like.. 5 guys are). Not quite good enough to be a #2 on a championship team, but fills in perfectly as a #3 (just as Siakam was last season).

Contrary to what this board thinks, decent offensive #3’s who are great to elite on the defensive end are max guys.

Again, no player is going to make assumptions for the front office about what moves they can/can't make. The player informs the team they want to go there then the team takes care of the contracts to make sure it works.

The Warriors didn't actually have immediate cap space for Durant, but once he made it clear he wanted to be there they made space.

If this case were to happen again (for the Raps) there would be only 1-2 contracts needed to be moved. Nothing drastic about that.

Lowry deserved 3rd team and Pascal probably should’ve been 3rd team instead of 2nd.
