Re: The too early Suggs vs. Barnes thread
I will say whats going to separate these players and make 1 more elite than the other will be the Jump shot Imo...
Both players will fill the stat sheet , Both are Elite defenders for their positions, Both make hustle winning plays....
The one thing suggs has over barnes is a faster dribble/speed/First step and that Jumper looks much more smoother and progressed than Barnes set shot is....
Suggs 3pt shot surprised me tonight tbh with people saying that is his weakness it didnt look like a weakness tonight...
I just Hope Barnes can get some Iso/3 Point stroke down in the future if not Suggs might become the more polished player

I'll take the Scottie Pippen, Draymond Green, Kawhi Leonard hybrid over Kyle Lowry 2.0.

Re: The too early Suggs vs. Barnes thread
Lol you can never expect solid reasonable takes after summer league games. We've already got detailed outcomes of their careers based on less than 48 minutes of Summer League.
Suggs is the ready now guy and got passed on at 4 by a team that's not ready to compete right now. Barnes is the guy who's more "raw" but still had a pretty similar stat line. Not bad.
Funny enough Orlando was actually the team I wanted Suggs to end up on. Granted I was wishing for Mobley but I was never sold on Suggs as the guy we desperately "needed". Magic are a better spot for him; they've been dying for that kind of player for years. Scottie Barnes is the better gamble in this development system.
Let's revisit this in 2-3 years.

The difference will never be as great as Araujo instead of Andre Iguodala.

Yea that’s pretty dumb. Lowry still gets underrated.
Also please don’t put Draymond in that company. We still don’t know what Draymond looks like away from a team with the 2 greatest shooters of all time.

This to me is SO MUCH like Poltel over Sabonis.
Jakob is solid and had the measureables and potential but the Gonzaga kid was just the better player.

Re: The too early Suggs vs. Barnes thread
It’ll come down to who wants it more. Simple.
Both guys have extremely high ceilings. Whoever puts in more work will end up the better player.
Scottie will have the advantage given that he’s being groomed by a better development team.

Mitchell is the Lowry clone.

Taller more athletic Lowry. Hence why he was ranked higher

Like I've said before, having the two greatest shooters of all time didn't make Draymond a DPOY.

He is indeed. I'm just trying to hype Barnes to the extreme, while I still can.

Here's Suggs coming off the splits and into a DHO very Lowry esque, the acceleration, then into a staple Lowry power post move.

This is the opposite type of pick to me. There were much more downsides and risks with Sabonis and they went for the safer, more projectable player in Poeltl. Poeltl was flat out the better college player.

Suggs knows who he can and can't do that post move to lol. That little kid had no chance.
But that move would not work on 95% of NBA players lol

Re: The too early Suggs vs. Barnes thread
Suggs should have a good season, the Magic will be terrible.
I'm still totally happy with Barnes though, it's the right pick.
