Re: Toronto Star: Edward Rogers fought plans to keep Raptors’ Masai Ujiri
Just terrible. Everyone knbows Edward Rogers is a huge Putz. His own family have wanted him out for years because he's a spoiled incompatant moron.
Thankfully Larry and Bell smoothed this over and got Masai to stay. Edward also out from Rogers board and thus MLSE board.
Goofball.

I'm not doubting the accuracy of this article at all but to those wondering why a story like this comes out now...it's a favour to someone with influence.
...or simply because the Rogers saga is front page national news? No need to complicate this. The story came out because people are interested in it.

Re: Toronto Star: Edward Rogers fought plans to keep Raptors’ Masai Ujiri
I imagine Bell's CEO who is on the MLSE board is giggling over his coffee this AM. Of course, Bell can't lose in this Rogers mess.
This article, while fascinating, is really aimed at Rogers' institutional shareholders - the pension funds with enormous clout, and the message is, take out this clown. I don't imagine the mother and sisters were the source of the leaks, likely someone like Dale Lastman acting on Larry's behalf, but that's just a guess.
Anyway, there is an old blessing in Hebrew/Yiddish I'd apply to Larry T - biz a hundret und tvanzig, which roughly translates as May he live to 120. (Although his son Ken is quite the business executive, vice-chairman of Larry's company).

Given all this I’m surprised Masai even wanted to come back. Super thankful that he did.

Feschuk on TSN1050 this morning was suggesting that Masai would have a problem with Ed's politics. And maybe vice versa. If Ed is conservative, he probably didn't like the way Masai brushed off Doug Ford at the parade.
It was really unfortunate that basketball guy George Cope retired from Bell recently. He would have been an important ally who could have helped put a stop to this nonsense. No wonder Masai was insecure. His position was 100% dependent on the 75-year-old Larry Tanenbaum. Fortunately as governor, Larry had sole authority under the NBA consistitution to bring back Masai, regardless of Bell or Rogers.
Also from the article (according to Feschuk), the deal is for 15 mill/yr, plus a share in any increase in value of MLSE. An opposing franchise (we can only assume the Wizards) offered a 3% stake.
I'm pretty sure all these guys are loathe to support progressive agendas if it costs them money. He wanted Bobby Webster to get promoted, because that's the cheaper option.
From the article it sounds like they caved on 11 of Ed's 12 conditions, and the hold up was that play with the Jays. This all seems like just one giant rich a-hole flexing his leverage, which is what Bell and Rogers routinely do with our gov't.Ujiri’s relationship with key MLSE board members, notably Tanenbaum, Dale Lastman and Bell CEO Mirko Bibic, in the end made him really feel comfy sufficient to return to the Raptors because the staff’s vice-chairman and president, the NBA supply stated.
Kudos to the bell ceo. He was painted as a puck head who wouldnt care about the raptors

Rogers has been **** the Jays for over two decades now. I hope fans organize a parade for when they finally sell the team one day. It would be like winning the WS for us.

Absolute garbage person. The ownership of this team largely doesn't deserve this fanbase and franchise.

Rogers isn't that interested in the Raptors. They're interested in their huge hockey investment and the Jays. Everything else is an afterthought so it's not a surprise that they wanted to cheap out on the Raps.
Then it must be true that those guys are old and out of touch like Martha (the sister) is saying cuz the Raptors are the future in Toronto as far are sports go. Interest in the Leafs and baseball in general is dying out. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say the Raptors will be the most popular team in Toronto in 15-20 years.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Melinda Rogers is on the MLSE board....
it's true and a great way to paint Ed as public enemy#1 (and rightfully so)
This is literally the tip of the iceberg.....Ed was also the driving force behind a lot of horrible decisions that other CEOs........the public media has never reported it but this may come out.

Just to be fair, all of the big time drama now is on the board of Rogers, not MLSE itself. On the MLSE board where Larry and Bell control the other 62.5% of the shares it seems like they have things somewhat under control. Can’t stop this moron from having some kind of minor sway with his 37.5% share but it seems like things are okayish on the MLSE side.
The biggest sign of MLSE being insulated from all of this, to me, is that Masai stayed. With the, seeming, huge number of options he had (some even more financially lucrative) and how offended he was, you would think he would have left if he had any concern at all about this bozo being able to truly exert any control over him and/or his organization.

I don't trust his family with the team either. They're all cut from the same cloth. They're just at each other's throats now because they all want more money/power. **** them all.

Typical corporate power struggle moving pawns around. The fans are pawns as well, you should acknowledge that much. If Masai got a cut of franchise appreciation than I see why he wanted him out. Need that confirmed.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

What does that have to do with politics? Tanenbaum tried to save BC's job, too. And George Cope tried to save Casey's job. None of it is political, it's just allies and foes. This was Ed Rogers' attempt to enrich his company knowing that Bell/Larry T were thirsty to bring back Ujiri. Ujiri is just a pawn in this game. The article states the situation pretty clearly to me.

While generalities are always dangerous/sexist, a rule of thumb that has helped get me through life to this point is that women are better than men. Smarter, more diligent, more honest and moral ... just better. I've given up subcontracting my work to men.
My one son and one daughter have not convinced me to resile from this rebuttable presumption.

It's a sad state of affairs when dumb kids can make dumb decisions but none of it matters because they basically have a state sanctioned oligarchy that allows them to print money despite being incompetent and greedy.

Mostly switched because my buddy is a manager there and got me a sweet phone plan, but so far it also seems like I’m *maybe* getting slightly better reception around town (Vancouver) than with Rogers
