Yup, Windhorst is clearly talking about Gobert to the Hawks. He says "swap of centres with Capela" and then goes into how Gobert would fit the Hawks style of defense. Lock this up.

Siakam for Gobert is laughable.

Would I move Pascal for a clear upgrade that is also younger? Absolutely. Do I expect that to be available? Not at all.
And I definitely don't expect us to trade him for young prospects and draft picks.
At this point I don't know what makes sense, other than staying the course with what we have and developing internally.
I listened to the podcast and the context of that quote was that they were looking into potential landing spots for Rudy Gobert in a trade and Tim McMahon got reallly giddy like he had a great trade idea and said something along the lines like "you know... Toronto just lost to Embiid and the Sixers, they need a Centre..could Pascal be going the other way?" and then Windhorst (and Tim Bontemps) laughed it off and all Windhorst could reply was "well....Pascal could be available for the right trade, but not for Rudy". Basically just saying Pascal is worth way more than Rudy (to TOronto)
Thanks for the quote.
As others have said, saying Pascal could be had for the right trade is just stupid. There isn't a player in the league that is untouchable. Just that the assets required to get such player would never be made available. What is an asset that improves Toronto both in the short and long term that would be made available for Pascal. Why would a team trade such an asset?

Hypothetically what sort of package would work for Siakam?
Siakam for Gallo (5 mil guaranteed 22/23) + Okongwu + Huerter + 22’ 16th pick
would this be good starting point?

If we trade Pascal it would have to be some type of godfather offer that sets this team up for years to come

Re: [Windhorst] Pascal Siakam Potentially Could Be Available For The Right Trade
Pascal just had his best season ever, was a monster who carried the team for over two months. About to be named 3rd team all-nba, so a top 15 player. He's not being traded. Even the talk of not fitting Scottie's timeline is silly, Pascal can play at this level for five years yet. He, Scottie and OG are the core of the team, the engine of the long boi concept. You don't trade any of them, you build around this trio plus Achiuwa.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I’d consider that.

This right here. I'm thinking for Pascal the minimum return in terms of assets from Atlanta is Okongwu + 2 firsts.

Re: [Windhorst] Pascal Siakam Potentially Could Be Available For The Right Trade
Masai doesn't have a history of trading a star for a mixed grill of lesser players. Don't tell me about Carmelo, that was a forced situation. He likes deals like Norm for GTJ, or DD for Kawai, not taking a solid starter on a great contract (OG's deal is fantastic) and peddling him for a platter. Remember the Serge trade, he was the best asset for either team. Or the Gasol trade. He traded the platter for Marc. So any trade Masai and Bobby might make is unlikely to be Pascal (or any other starter) for, say, Huerter and pick(s). Unless a comparable single asset who is a good age, style and contract fit becomes available, I just can't see it. It certainly isn't Rudy who checks none of those boxes.

There's a "I think" and a "potentially" in the first 5 words of his post...nothing to see here folks.

Don't go attacking reporters saying they know nothing when in fact they know more then any of us...Not saying Siakam will be traded but it sure is a possibility....And it could happen this offseason considering our timeline/rebuilding
The same Woj who was talking about Masai leaving for Washington seconds after the championship? Why did Shams write the article about NN going to the Lakers a month ago? It wasn't out of special knowledge, it was to kiss front office ass.
Its one thing to say these guys are going to be wrong some times, and then right others, so take their stories with a pinch of salt. It is quite another to act like Woj, Windy, Shams and all the rest don't rent out their credibility for access. Devaluing Siakam is a favour Windy can do for 29 front offices that costs him nothing.
We often don't think about this down side of our front office being so tight lipped: There is no reason for American media to play ball and help us out, because our front office doesn't play ball.

Re: [Windhorst] Pascal Siakam Potentially Could Be Available For The Right Trade
I love Okongwu but he's similar in archetype as Precious. He's another one of these hybrid, switchable smallball 5s who isn't super physically imposing. Okongwu is the better finisher inside, but he doesn't give you the 3ball that Precious does.
You might be able to play them together in certain situations, but ideally you'd want both playing the majority of their minutes at the 5.

I'm all for trading anybody but Barnes at this point for the right price but Hawks don't have one for Siakam.
If the Hawks offer Trae for Pascal, you need to at least listen to it.
I didn't listen to what he actually said but I'm of course assuming Trae Young is not on the table. They desperately want him to be that guy because of who they traded for him and they'll never hear the end of it if they gave up on him now. So I highly doubt he'd be available even though he's not necessarily at that level.

Re: [Windhorst] Pascal Siakam Potentially Could Be Available For The Right Trade
Yeah this "rumour" sounds like a whole lotta nothing & people shouldn't be too hard on Windy, he's just speculating for a sports' talk show, it's what they have to do to keep it entertaining. It's not like he claimed it was a serious chance of happening based on what he'd heard.
As for the idea of trading Pascal, I'd just echo what a lot of people have said where I'd be open to it for an obvious young superstar OR personally I'd also be open to a deal something like last year's speculated one of GSW's 2 lottery picks. Idc if anyone flames me for that I'd just have such huge trust with our scouting department that we'd be walking out with at least one young star in the making and knowing them, I think they'd pull off 2 or at least a second player comparable to say an "OG" level player.
I'm certainly in no rush to trade Siakam, I think he's been excellent and a great leader/mentor to Scottie. He seemed to embrace him with open arms from the beginning (unlike Fred who seemed to take a second) which shows his maturity especially when the first thing people did was assume because we drafted SB that he'd be traded.
Personally my gut tells me Gary is the guy who's gonna be shopped the most out of any "core" guys because I just don't get a sense that he's too attached to being here unless we overpay. Of course I'm with most people that out of anyone I'd prefer to flip Fred out of anyone (especially with lingering hip issues *ahem remember IT?) but I'm just not sure how much he'll yield in a trade as a short guy who's gonna demand a big payday. Then last but not least, sadly I think OG could end up being flipped if we do make a big trade though due to having a bit more control than the other 2 contracts while still being a younger player with upside.
My bird's eye view take on where the team is or can be, is that overall I think Scottie has the potential to be the main hub but not necessarily the go to scorer, maybe not quite at the level but in the same vein as a Jokic or Giannis but like them will need a go to scorer in crunch time (ie/ Murray and Middleton). Pascal can be the IDEAL 3rd option but we just need to find a way to turn some combination of Fred, GT Jr or OG (+ picks) into that bucket getter. It's gonna get really interesting next year's deadline to see what the team does with Gary & Fred (who I pray we don't overpay).

Didn't windy break the Harden Simmons trade first and Woj denied it? Where there is smoke there is fire most likely. Not saying it could happen but i'm sure they had some talks
But here he's not reporting smoke or fire, he's not reporting at all. He's just speculating.
And not even speculating on a move but a Non-move. That is the opposite of smoke.
