With all things considered, Masai will not trade him to an East rival unless they overpay. Most likely OG will get scooped up by a Western conference team on the brink of a title run that needs that premier 3 and D player to support their Superstar....my dark horse is the Nuggets. Ujiri has a history with them being a former GM and he still has connections to the organizations leaving on friendly terms. So the trade that I proposed would be KCP, Bones Hyland, all 2023 second round from OKC, Miami, Washington and Dallas with the exception of their own, 2024 and 2025 1st unprotected. This is an all in move for the Nuggets adding OG and still retaining their core of Jokic, Porter Jr, Murray and Aaron Gordon.

Johnson is actually a good defender, would have him above average defender, but not at level of OG/Mikal.
Johnson actually really athletic, maybe bouncier then both OG and Bridges as a reference. He’s not as strong or has a crazy wingspan like OG/Mikal, but he’s always in the right spot.

That said, I don’t see Phx considering moving Cam for OG. Maybe in a deal for Siakam, any OG deal is likely to be draft pick based

Don't worry we're not super keen on Cam because he's an RFA with 2 knee surgeries under his belt and 2-3 picks in the 20s isn't that appealing.

You can’t talk about Cam’s 2 knee injuries without acknowledging that OG is very injury prone and misses a ton of games just about every season.

Would love the NO deal but it would come with at least top-5 protections or so, given where the pick is currently and the lottery hasn’t taken place. If it conveyed into second round picks or something, that would be a tough pill to swallow.

Zach Lowe mentioned it couple weeks ago, if we really put OG on the market, right away we'd get 7 or 8 OK offers. Then Masai make them bid against one another and we'll get a really good offer. I don't want to lose OG, I think he's THE best 3&D guy in the league at DPOY level defense, fits in all 30 team now and for the rest of his career. But I'm sad to say I think his talent is a bit wasted right now. Also, it does seem like we can get a bidding war going between Suns, Grizz, Pels and maybe even more teams.

Some of you guys are underrating Cam Johnson and how his game will translate around Scottie Barnes. Cam is an elite shooter, way better than OG. Cam is shooting 44% from 3 and shot 42% last year, OG has never shot over 40% in his career and has shot 36% for the past two seasons. Yes, OG is an elite defender but Cam is solid on that end too.

+ those two first round picks will be way out which could end up being really good down the road.

Cam is a dime a dozen role player who will have a productive career bouncing around the league.

He's insignificant to anything relating to our ceiling and the real value of a trade like this is the picks (and the very important lack of protections on those picks).

He doesn't impact the direction of what our team should do from here. Losing OG does that, which should trigger the blowing up of the Siakam timeline if you're making a futures play in this trade.

It's one thing to miss a couple weeks here and there due to a sprain, appendicitis, etc as opposed to having 2 major knee surgeries which could result in more extensive time missed going forward and/or a shortened career.

I feel like if an OG trade happens, it’ll be sooner rather than on deadline day. Would probably want to make follow up trades depending on what we get back for him. OG might be gone this week

You're right. It's probably either happening sooner, or even in the summer. The more urgent trade (I'm guessing) is moving one of Fred or Gary, because I'll bet they know they're not willing to outbid other teams for those two. They can wait until the summer and hope for a decent S&T package, but it's easier now as it can be part of a three team trade etc.

Yeah a Daniels + Lakers pick swap is not enough for me. Lakers could just as easily end up with a worse pick than us which would make that deal awful. LOL. NOP will place protections on that pick anyway and we'd need to have more picks coming back because of it.
