This.

In the previous thread I made the case for Jordi and still stand by it.

Adleman and Sergio are also picks I would not be mad at.

All 3 would make excellent NBA coaches.

Nash or Doc

I am fairly confident that Steve Nash is absolutely the worst candidate of the names thrown in so far, and if we do hire him, even those who are the strongest Masai backers, would question this move.

I'd be pleased with anyone they hire at this point except for Doc Rivers.

Rooting for Sergio to get it. He's got the experience, advanced knowledge and some familiarity with our team. Feels like he will actually adjust to the type of team we have.

What is taking so long? This does not bode well at all since other teams are scooping up their coaches and moving on, while we are fumbling our fingers. Make a move already, the wait is killing me.

Cap. Please explain? I want an announcement like the next fan, but other teams signing guys (who were never on our list) has nothing to do with our hire and when.

Dad dancing aside. I have no real opinion on Nash. I don't know how good he is, or could be. He was in a pretty difficult situation with the Nets. But from what I did see, I wasn't impressed. Not once.

Adleman is the only one still coaching right now....it's obvious why we're still waiting

so many times coaches have been hired even though their team is still in the playoffs. being hired doesnt mean they get up and leave right away, they finish out the playoffs.

Dude, you got all summer. The coach being announced now or in August won't change your Raptor experience.

Wrong. Quinn is still coaching.

While hiring Nash would certainly come out of left field, I think we need to understand the situation that he was in in Brooklyn. Imagine having to coach a team with Kyrie, KD and Simmons? KD plays 45 games a year and Kyrie and Simmons play whenever they feel like it. Two of those guys are uncoachable and when Kyrie went to play with Dallas, they didn't even make the playoffs while KD's new team got bounced in the 2nd round.

As much of a mess Brooklyn was, they are a good organization. Despite losing their lottery picks to Boston, they remained somewhat competitive and drafted well. They hired Nash.

I feel like we should hire a new coach. But if Jordi and Adelman can't land any jobs elsewhere either then perhaps they aren't the best candidates. I mean Jordi reportedly got beat out by Doc Rivers who is a terrible coach.

Nah this has always been the plan. The June 22nd draft is the only real date driving things. Quinn/Adelman still coaching in the playoffs also pretty much guarantees nothing will happen until somebody wins the chip.

Grange recently guessed that there'd be a short list in the first week of June, but that the draft date was the real timeline:

last year mike brown was hired from warriors during the 1st round; warriors went on to win chip
was hired may 8th, playoffs finished in june

year before pelicans hired willie green from suns during palyoffs, suns went to the finals.

edit kenny atkinson was also hired during the playoffs but he accepted then declined, but again another proof that coaches get hired while they are still working.

I mean, maybe? I don't know, it's hard to judge. After everything that happened in Brooklyn and how the situation resolved, was it really Nash's fault? Or was it just that the entire situation was a tire fire.

Didn't he do pretty well when Durant and Irving were out of the lineup? I thought he was sporting like a .580 winning percentage or something.

Idc when it’s announced, I just hope it’s not one of the recycled coaches like Monty or Doc. Both of those crumbled (horribly) under pressure numerous times. I know they’re both “player coaches”, but the team needs a fresh mind/way of thinking. I’d much rather take a chance on someone like Jordi or Aldeman.

It would also give me more hope that we’re willing to move forward with a rebuild vs bringing someone in to try and run it back. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are hinging this on whether or not they’re able to make the kinds of deals they want for Pascal, Fred and maybe OG.
