We can only hope this changes as he ages/develops physically but his shot being broken isn't good. He may well just be another Luke Jackson, Xavier Henry or Ziaire Williams type that hasn't shown that they can make that leap.

Frustrating that we've had no real contributions from the past few years of drafts to play with Barnes, though obviously they couldn't have foreseen the issues with Koloko.

Ziaire Williams is an interesting guy to mention. He is in the Memphis rotation but he is really up and down in play. Still only 22 years-old so not done being a prospect yet. I always liked his ball skills but his injuries derailed him quite a bit in the lead up to the draft. Ultimately a 6'9 guy who is around 185 lbs is going to have a tough time making it. Also, I was never sure he was a guy overly driven and a leader. He wasn't the best player on his team. The league requires a tough mind plus physical and strength/strong core go along way playing with men.

I laughed at the Luke Jackson reference. If it ends up that bad, we all will be crying over that pick. It seems like Toronto was pretty set on Dick when a lot of their problems would have been solved with Cason Wallace if we just traded up.

Ziaire Williams had a totally different kind of development to Gradey. He was a guy who had a terrible freshman season, but still ended up getting drafted in the lottery (and going higher than most predicted) because one team thought that they would bank on the talent and how highly regarded he was in high school. That would have been more like Dariq Whitehead or Nick Smith from this past draft if someone would have snapped then up in the lottery. Gradey was one of the better freshman ever at Kansas, and started and excelled for a coach who isn't known for giving freshman many minutes, and ended up going in the lower end of his expected draft range.

Also, Cason Wallace was someone the Thunder wanted and moved up in the draft to get. He's the guy I really wanted too, but given the circumstances it seems unlikely the Raps could have drafted him. The Thunder have way more draft assets to move up in a draft than the Raptors do and could easily have outbid the Raps to move up to grab him.

Someone else brought up Ziaire but my point was more about how the body type and maturity level make up factors that can outweigh talent. Gradey Dick was better in college, but he was not the best/most important player on Kansas. He was an upside pick like Williams was. Williams just had a lot of injuries and I think he never caught a groove on a bad team. He has taken several years to even get to where he is now, so I kind of wonder if Gradey will struggle similarly.

We will never know in the draft, but the Wizards traded with Indy for 7 and took Coulibaly, while Indy took Jarace Walker who is the OG-type of prospect. Toronto and Indy could have been trade partners and we would have been able to get Cason Wallace. Jazz also took Taylor Hendricks who now hardly plays for them. I could also imagine some type of trade with them.

OKC probably wanted Wallace the most given their trade with Dallas, but they obviously didn't make any deals higher than the one they did with Dallas. They didn't even give out picks in the Dallas deal, just agreed to take on salary. We could have swooped in, but you know the story with this FO.

Masai isn’t far off from Stepian. The guy traded a sh*t load of draft picks in a desperate attempt to make the playoffs and failed doing it. Similar to us.

+1 for the Fruitman deepcut

I have to assume he was a poster here at some point. This was the only place nerd and basketball crossmingled in the beforetimes.

Not sure how bringing him to the big club is going to help him when he’s so overmatched.

Brandin Podziemski from Warriors picked 19th is doing well ahead of Gradey and he's only a year older. Coming off the bench and contributing for the Warriors

Dick looks shook out there, gets exploited on defense and affects his overall confidence. His problem is a lack of core strength, he gets pushes around too much and can't fight off screens. He needs to get stronger, hit the damn weights and get bigger.

Those injury risk concerns better be legit or they made a big mistake passing on this guy.

Barnes is 8th and 10th in the league this year in BPM and VORP, so no. If the guy played with actual good players, he'd also be even better.

Scottie is easily better than Sengun, they put up similar stats....if you ignore Scotties massive defensive contribution. Scottie puts up more spg than Sengun does stocks.

Remember being so shook when he fell to us and we didn't draft him. Literally said "well they have to take Whitmore as BPA even with injury concerns at this point". Only to see Dick.

Personally thought on draft day he was the obvious BPA because even though Gradey dropped Cam was higher on most draft boards even up until the draft day.

I thought we'd go Bufkin because only him, Keyonte, Gradey, Cason seem to have worked out here
