This is a bit hit or miss, he doesn't seem to get blown by or anything, but he fouls a lot. Hopefully he's just like any other rookie, and it fades with time.

I think it might be, I always assume rookies are going to get humbled by the whistle early in their first season, seems to happen to everyone. It's how they end up adjusting or not that separates the wheat from the chaff.

He is limited athletically. This is going to be more pronounced and eventually he will be targeted by players that are good at getting to the line.

I have high hopes for Battle. He is super poised, sticks his nose in for boards, and shoots the three well. I dare to dream him to be a Shane Battier for us if he figures out how to get into his defensive rotations quicker. You can just tell he is a high IQ player the way he cuts and gets open.

Battle's def looking like a keeper. His shot is real, he holds his own on the defensive end and he's got good basketball IQ (Which you'd expect after five years of college ball). Great job by the organization.

I think slightly more athletic Mo Pete would be a great career for him playing 10 years in the league. I could see him being a back rotation player on a championship team.

That's probably more reasonable as far as expectations. He is going to be a good role-player.

If Georges Niang can be in the league, so can Battle.

He's been our most consistent player through two games.

You know what I found crazy...

Through 2021-2023 (3 seasons) - he was a 77% FT shooter (on 2.2 attempts per game)
Fast forward to his final season - he shot 93% from the FT line (on 2.7 attempts per game)

Now let's take a look at his 3pt%....

Through 2021-2023 (3 seasons) - he shot 34% from three (on 6.9 attempts per game)
Fast forward to his final season - he shot 43% from three (on 6 attempts per game)

This sort of improvement is indicative of an exceptional work ethic.
He's only 23 and I hope we retain him.

Shared this in the OP over the summer. This is what gets me even more excited about his potential. I think we're gonna see him improve throughout the season and then he'll be a very good bench piece for us next season.
In Masai We Trust :meditate:

Masai finally drafted a shooter and he's opposite of everything that is the 6'9 experiment

These 4 year college guys always seem to play with a type of fire. I am a big fan of Battle.

He is going to be a valuable piece for any team. Already playing with poise, toughness, and great understanding of the game. He trusts his shot enough to hit crucial buckets. I have always envied other teams having someone like a McDermott or Luke Kennard off the bench and now we got 1 for cheap too.

He inherited some of the Gradey offensive package last night vs. the Pistons and he executed those plays really well, didn't expect as much juice from the mid-range.

He looks like a real rotation piece.

I would imagine he’ll be signed to a regular contract before end of the year…or at least he should. He’ll hit 50 games sooner than later at this rate.

I feel like his floor is Georges Niang and will play 12 years for the MLE.

If we have room after the deadline, why not. Get him under a 2 year contract (this and next year) with an option for year 3 at the minimum. But would hold off until after the deadline in case we need the space below the tax line for any trades.

This guy has a flamethrower. I don’t think it’s a coincidence the best teams in the league are filling out their benches with shooters like this

Sure, they’re not great defensively, but when Dick/Battle play together it completely destroys any zone

I want to see more Dick/Battle line ups. Instead of Agbaji.

The Agbaji experiment should be ending soon his impact stats are just way too bad. Battle has a good base to develop from, he's similar to Dick in that if he gets a handle he'll look a lot better. He showed some creation ability in college.

Have Mogbo to get stocks, just need a C like Chomche and Ivisic to get stocks and 3's. Also all other bench players need to be able to shoot the 3 above 35%.
