You skipped over the "locked into their core." It's a reflection that the guys making big money probably aren't as good as their paycheck shows.

Let's see... hope it's just early season overreactions because what happened on opening day was disgusting lol.

I didn't skip over it at all - I 100% responded to that and said no, we really are not.

We are projected to be top 10 in cap space. That is not counting the completely moveable Poeltl deal (and Olynyk to a lesser extent), and even RJ who has rehabbed his value since the trade and is probably not seen in the same negative light as he was before.

We are in no way locked in. We have all our picks. We have moveable deals. That is the complete opposite of "locking into our core". We have flexible contracts like Brown or Boucher who can be great salary filler if we wish to go that route. We have no one outside Barnes/IQ/RJ locked up past 2026/27.

I guess we have VERY different definitions of "locked in".

Yep, we're not locked into anything.

yak's probably gone long before then and all these contracts, even scottie's, are easily moveable.

We need to defend all of Maxeys minutes tonight.
The good thing about BI is he can shoot over defenders.

What i meant by being locked in means we won't have significant amount of cap space to upgrade this talent deprived team. Barnes/IQ/RJ is this teams "core" and our only real path to success means they stink up the joint this season leading to a super high draft pick.

Look at our results since 2020... my reactions have been mostly on the money based on the situation we're in currently.

I've been forecasting us being this dreadful ever since Gasol/Ibaka walked and I wanted Lowry traded right away but wasn't. Instead, we've delayed the process and get to enjoy another couple of years of irrelevance so I have 0 regrets being as harsh as I am.

Were top 10 in the NBA in capspace, and can easily create $40M of space if we want to.

Who exactly are we signing with this capspace?

There are plenty of links shared when reporters were discussing the Raptors during their Team Previews. A capped out team that's locked into their core but expected to be a bottom 5ish team lol.

Every pre-cast i have seen, had the raptors firmly in the play-in or missing it close. They are maybe the 21st, 22nd best team in the league, but definitly not bottom 5. I havent seen that anywhere.

That's exactly what everyone's laughing at. We're not good enough to be relevant but not good enough for great lottery odds. We're basically the Wizards/Bulls of the NBA and making us a bottom 5ish franchise at the moment.

Cap space is a pathway for improvement by adding multiple good players or that one big guy or make smart trades. And I don't want to hear "if he want to" since this front office keeps kicking the can down the road on multiple fronts which is why we're currently one of the jokes of the league.

This team doesn't even have a pathora of draft picks like a rebuilding should like the Jazz, Thunder, etc. I'm just trying to find what's the pathway for this franchise to become relevant again and it might be 2026 when we MIGHT get a playoff spot and longer than that for us to expect to win a playoff series.

By then, I can fully see Barnes getting sick of the losing and want out. Just my 2 cents lol

Tony Brothers, who calls everything will be reffing this game so Maxey definitely going off. Tony Brothers was the ref in that unwatchable game against the Wiz in the preseason. RJ could have had a big night if he played, hopefully Scottie is aggressive.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

Again - who are these multiple good players we are adding? Typically, if you want to get a guy in FA you gotta overpay - so who are we overpaying?

And "kicking the can down the road" is the EXACT same complaint everyone had about this team from 2013 to 2018. Masai was constantly ridiculed for "evaluating". Just be honest and say you enjoy watching trades and moves be made. Just because they are fun does not mean they are necessarily in the teams best interest.

Also - you are out of your mind if you think we are "one of the jokes of the league". This SCREAMS you don't want or pay attention to the NBA outside of Toronto. That is a WILD thing to say.

You bring up UTAH and OKC like they were not gift wrapped some of the most lopsided deals of the last decade  Most rebuilding teams do not have "a pathora of draft picks". Most rebuilding teams also do not have a starting centerpiece like Scottie.

I see based on your join date you just hate no clue how a rebuild looks or works. That is fine.
