Raps/Cavs is probably our best chance to win a round? I think so, can't play against Hawks or Magic.

Maybe next they'll bring back McRibs!

I can't believe how weak the East is again this year. I really thought 5-8 was going to be more of a dogfight. Instead it's a whimper-fest for the last few spots.

The Hawks are certainly this team's best chance to win a playoff series. LeBron isn't losing to the Raptors in a series. The question for the remainder of this season is whether the Raps can beat the Heat out for 5th.

I see that the Bulls - who lost to the Raptors twice, lost to the Nets at home & blew a 35 point lead to the Kings at home - are in 8th place and would make the playoffs if play ended today.

That's frickin' unreal.................

Oh, and the Knicks (who dont have a #1 pick and desperately want to make the playoffs) are only a half game behind.

So, there is no reason to suspect that the raptors will not make the playoffs....... your personnel is much better than both Bulls and Knicks

I think we should keep track of season series won in case it comes into play for playoff ranking. Today's win clinches the season series with Detroit. We already have the season series against the Bulls. Orlando has won its season series with us. Curiously, we have yet to play Philadelphia and New York even once.

Don't forget the Heat played only 10 games on the road, compared to Raps' 17.

It's pretty crazy. The Bulls have been brutal this year, but i'd still bet on them to make the playoffs. 38 wins and you're in.

I believe there will be more than 1 sub 500 team to make the playoffs this year and I believe the Raptors will end up fifth and here's why:

There are five elite teams in the NBA this season and four of them are in the East. Now the rest of the East has to play these teams between 12 - 16x this year. Now given the difference in talent, the rest of the East will most likely lose between 80 - 90% of those games right. Which means they will have a record around 3 - 9 to 2 - 14. From these games alone the rest of the East will dig a hole of about 6 - 12 games under .500 which they must fight back from. And everyone one will think each other are weak, must win games so they'll beat on each other resulting in couple of sub .500 teams making the playoffs.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

The only reason you guys are surprised by the east this year is because most of you severely overrated the sixers and the wizards.
The wizards are EXACTLY what i predicted they'd be: Injury prone (jamison, miller), bad at defence, and a poor record overall.
The sixers are worse than i thought they'd be, mostly because of the lou williams injury and Speights' injury. Elton Brand is just as bad as i expected him to be, but thad young hasnt been as good as i thought he would be.

Standings as of today:

Boston
Cleveland
Orlando
Atlanta
Miami
Toronto
Milwaukee
Chicago

Miami cooled down after their hot start but have won their last few games. There next couple of games are on the road against the Hornets and Spurs which I expect them to split. They come back home for a few games, then go out on the road to face six Western teams. So it should be interesting to follow them over this span of time and if they faulter and Raps continue at least on pace of .500 then I expect them to overtake them for the 5th spot.

Also, Milwaukee after their very hot spot have come back to earth after beating on some bad teams early on in the season. I expect them to fall out of the standings and two of Charlotte/Detroit/Chicago to pick things up and fight it out for the final spots in the East. I'm not psychic but I feel Chi town will make a move or two and add some scoring to their lineup and that will help improve their team, so that leaves, Charlotte and Detroit battling it out for the 8th spot.

I wanted to include Philadelphia, but they've dug themselves a huge hole and the team and players aren't to confident right now that they can win, so it's highly unlikely they come close to challenging to make the playoffs.

It does not work like that. There is only so much he can do and I'm not saying that we will beat the Cavs but it is our best chance of advancing as it stands right now.

OP would you mind adding a Last 10 column in the standings?

Just good to see which teams are currently on a roll.

Great thread again.
