POR doesn’t find the trade proposals for #3 (or Dame) enticing enough during the draft AND they are interested in slow playing the process, they take BPA at #3, and continue on their marry way, until they get an offer for Dame or #3 pick that they actually like. There is likely going to be a fixed date for #3 but maybe not for Dame. They could let teams do whatever they want to do when FA opens up knowing they got a long timeframe on their end.

Very possible as well, but I think it’s unlikely that they hold Dame in a situation where he has no chance of winning but we shall see.

Unfortunately for Dame, he may not have a choice (regardless what is said in the media by team officials), if POR is not blown away by an offer, or think they could have better/comparable options if they delay

You’re right Dame may have no choice, but I was speaking about what Portland is likely to do based on what they have said and what the loyalty shown over Dame’s career. That being said what Dame wants does seem to influence if not determine what Portland will do. Let’s see how it unfolds though.

Agreed

Only way to get #3 is to overpay substantially

It's always fun to play Devil's Advocate but the reality is POR's management has already POST draft lottery come out & said they are looking to CONTINUE to build a contending roster around Dame, the same Dame that just PRE-draft that publicly stated that POR should use this pick, the same pick that now Chris Haynes is reporting POR WILL BE shopping for more help and from the same franchise that was not only linked to us LAST year's draft but ALSO THIS YEAR'S trade deadline soooooo...

Yeah I guess we can play up that "what if it doesn't work out" pessimism if you like but really the odds don't favor it based on everything else other than a fear you're stating as an individual who has no connection at all to the POR franchise, just sayin. I don't know what led you to Door C but everyone else is focused on the other 2 before it that actually have something behind it other than personal fear.

Personal fear lol.

What's funny is that there's nothing else that could be grounded on  because it certainly isn't any sourced info.

Portland has 3 main assets:

Sharpe, #3, and Simons

They can’t put all 3 in to get just one player, unless it’s Giannis.

I think they need at least one all-star/all-nba talent and a solid starter.

I’m going to go play with the trade machine.

I wonder if the blazers will look to trade the 3rd pick to help dame? I would be curious if there are any tweets on the matter. Maybe you guys can post them as they come along?

Portlands best move is to trade Dame and go full rebuild. Adding another star next to Dame doesn’t make them a contender.

#3 pick, Simons + pieces for Siakim. Let’s see if the Blazers would go with that deal. Give me Scoot baby since Portland seems dead set on trading the pick.

Pascal to Portland makes too much sense to not happen now. Blazers will be desperate to get a star player to appease Dame so I don't think there's any doubt that they'll trade the pick.

Basketball side of it; it's a pretty fantastic fit. Siakam gets a ton of room to operate in the post and gets to attack 4-on-3 matchups frequently when Dame gets trapped behind the arc. If Nurkic keeps improving from 3 that only helps the spacing even more. Defensively Siakam should be able to return close to his 2019 form where he didn't have to play 40 minutes every night as the top option. He's the exact kind of player that Dame has needed to play beside for years.

It wouldn't make them instant favourites in the West but Pascal + a bench retool would allow them to contend for sure.

Why would that be the case when its Portland that wants to trade the pick? I don't see teams overpaying with numerous allstars for something that isn't guaranteed.

They likely take the single best player offered and form something around that.

Portland also said they were serious about winning last year and yet they kept their pick and drafted Shaedon.

This is the prime opportunity for Masai to rebuild quickly with youth

Siakam for Portland #3, Simons + filler
FVV S&T for whatever
Re-sign Jakob
Not sure what to do with Trent

Draft Scoot with #3, pretty sure Charlotte not going to take another guard

Scoot
SG (Trent or Brooks)
OG
Barnes
Jakob

As much as they are signaling that they want to build around dame they are more likely to trade him and rebuild.

I think portland would overvalue the pick, but this is considered a top draft and wouldnt blame them. I wouldnt mind doing a siakim for #3, simons, keon johnson and, nassir little. Dnt think we can pull sharpe in a deal but that would be legendary

They thought Jerami Grant was going to be their big move. They were wrong.

It’s the right thing to say publicly that they are considering moving the pick to build a contender around Dame. Whether teams meet their potential high asking price is a different discussion.

I don't believe Portland for a minute. They're going to draft Henderson or Miller.

Imagine we put ourselves in the position to land a top 4 pick, instead of cooking up convoluted trades that likely will go nowhere because we wanted that play-in revenue.

Portland may say they intend to build around Lillard using the pick as a trade bait but my gut tells me they'll hold on to their pick. They've slowly been rebuilding under Lillards feet.

I’m pretty sure he’s realized that. It’s why he had the publicity tour after the season and has made it clear “no more 19 year olds.”

They didn’t make any moves last year and they were a lotto team….again.

POR should be trading Lillard. They are wasting their fan's time. Even if they get Bridges or Siakam (knowing they will have to give up # 3 and Sharpe), they aren't a contender.

just spinning their wheels right now, kinda shocked their GM made those comments

I think with Siakams contract coming up it makes the deal very very unlikely....They would be tied to Lillards huge contract making 45+ Mill a year and Siakam prolly asking for around 40+ mill a year....They would be tied up with them 2 guys for the next 5 years...

Idk if they wanna go that route when they have Sharp locked into a rookie contract, Simons on a decent deal, and potentially bring in a Scoot on a rookie contract...

If im the Blazers Siakam is not the player im looking for....Id look for a star locked into a contract already.
