I can see some 3+D potential with him, but I never thought of him as a clear cut top 4-5 guy. If he was a 3-4 star recruit who didn't receive so much preseason hype, he'd wouldn't go this high based on his freshman season.

Also weary about the guys who are afraid to meet/work out for teams.

Some of us even before the season were pointing the concerns. Comparing him to MPJ as a good outcome was apparently an insult.

Wow! He's getting horrible advice. He may be a star (I have my doubts), but a lot of dominos will have to fall into place for him and all of them involve him proving himself on the court. This is entitlement and I can't imagine will do much to endear him to FOs around the league

Only way this makes sense is if his camp has a promise from a lotto team thats fairly high/top 5

I think Ace is pushing himself to Washington. They don't have a scoring wing.

He's pushing himself to Brooklyn.

That's a franchise in need of an initial building block prospect. Coulibaly is already at the 3 in Washington.

I see both Ace and Coulibably working on the wing

Both slipping and not invited to green room

I brought it up before, but Coward isn't good. He can shoot, but that's about it. He's old, had mediocre defensive numbers that are actually downright awful when you adjust for competition and very poor playmaking.

Are either of these capable of guarding quicker perimeter guys? Bilal maybe. Ace won't be.

I thought he was more a rangy and long guy (6'8"), better suited to guard 3's and 4's.

Granted, I've only seen him a few times, he could be a nice combination of quick and long enough to guard 2's.

Coulibably is a tremendous defender. Can guard anyone on perimeter.

From Fischer/Stein a couple ago
The apparent coalescing of a top eight might also be contributing to the perception that Toronto's No. 9 selection is the most likely top-10 pick to be traded. Anticipation that the Raptors will part with it has also been fueled, sources say, by the prospect of Maluach being drafted before Toronto gets the chance. Word is that the Raptors are thus evaluating centers that would be available later in the first round; I've been told Michigan center Danny Wolf and Georgia's Asa Newell are two prime candidates in that category

Also developing is what I'm calling The Center Vortex at the back end of the lottery. Beginning with New Orleans at No. 7, there are plenty of teams that have been linked to centers. The top-rated prospect, Maluach, has visited with the Pelicans, Wizards and Hawks, sources say. The Duke product is also expected to meet with the Jazz before next Wednesday's Round 1.

Does that mean Maluach can go as high as No. 5? The mere question has only added to the skepticism that he will make it to the Raptors at No. 9.

But how far could the Raptors trade down and still be able to land a big man they covet? Sources say Chicago (No. 12) and Atlanta (No. 13) are two more teams with interest in drafting a center.

More like similar to Walter.
Whitemore was due to injury, two different scenarios.

Hmm. I think Walter did have an injury that limited his play.

Didn't Whitmore's interviews hurt him as well?

Yeah, I think you are right, he was playing hurt. Not as bad as Whitemore though.

If Fleming projects into early 20s area of draft, Raps need to be aggressive. See him as Naz Reid type with better defense. Good fit here.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

i'm not sure if we're looking to add guaranteed money but flipping #39 and a future 2nd into their pick would be nice.

That will make us a tax team.
Plus, most likely they want to trade a bad contract for a useful player if they are giving out a 1st. It is not meant for free.

Anyone thinking we weren't targeting Maluach from the jump was just being delusional because he's not their preference for w/e reason.
I've stated from the jump, Maluach or trade down

Asa Newell seems like the Raptors Target.....I have a feeling we end up with him now on draft night....Not a bad player....Seems like a guy good at everything but not great at one thing....Deff someone who has not been talked about much on this board....But if i had to guess he is a Raptor.

You could be right, I haven't watched enough to know. If true, Ace would be a good fit in Wash.

I feel vindicated when Danny Wolf and Asa Newell are both mentioned as targets. They are both really talented and available later. Stylistically they are different but if the aim is for a back-up big, both should slot in well.

Return to Toronto Raptors
