Re: Raptors sign Markquis Nowell
These comments make him sound unrealistic and quite honestly rather low IQ. If he could carve out a role as a backup PG getting 15 MPG that would be a phenomenal success story. Telling people you're getting Finals MVP, best raptor ever, etc just seems like you're overcompensating for an obvious flaw. This isn't high brow insight, its just the obvious reality.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

Re: Raptors sign Markquis Nowell
words are just words.
the fact he's gotten as far as he has given his size is a testament to his work ethic, drive and skill which a lot more important than what he posts on instagram.

For better or worse, he is getting his name out there. It's pretty rare for an undrafted, undersized player to get on fan's radar. His statements are delusional, but I'm hoping he succeeds! Good luck Markquis!

It's not about being irrational. People should aspire to be great. People should have the confidence and delusional mentality to believe they can do things that no one else thinks they can do. People don't become successful or achieve greatness if they don't believe its possible. The problem is he's going around announcing it to everyone when he hasn't even played one nba game. Needs to keep it to himself.
The confidence is fantastic but you must also be shrewd. I'd rather hear him articulate how he'll make himself a necessary part of the rotation and help the team succeed. What's his rooted and realistic vision. The most impactful players are in-tune with their ability.
It's an instagram post. Yeesh.

How will he look with guy a foot taller running at him though. No doubt he can shoot but can he get his shot off quickly without affecting his efficiency when he's so undersized. That's my main concern. Not a knock, I hope he proves me wrong.
Just as well as Damon Stoudamire or Muggsy Bogues or Isaiah Thomas did, I suppose. The thing is he played on a National stage against NBA caliber players:
Nowell averaged 23.5 points, 13.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game on .446/.419/.920 shooting splits. That is with defenses keying on him.
To me, his greatest threat is his passing which is elite which maybe gives his a few more inches of space from his defender.
My worry is how does he do against size at the rim.

I think you have to understand is it is a cultural thing. Nowell is a NY city PG. You have to have bravado and swagger to make it out of NY because there are just so many talented guards there. NY had guys like Starbury (Stefon Marbury) come out of there saying all kinds of junk:
"I'm a max player. Don't get mad at me because I'm telling you what's real. One plus one is two, all day long, and it's never gonna change. And that's factorial."
