he's shooting 44% from 3 on 6 attempts with the Raps so far. also averaging almost 6 assists/1 TO per game, plays solid D and gets to the line a decent amount

he definitely has not disappointed me and looks like a budding star

Budding star ? I sure do hope so but I see Lou Williams at best without the swagger

Man cannot get his shot off without help of a screen or a pass

Lou Williams was never the defender or willing passer that IQ's proven to me.

If Lou Williams had those skills, he'd be closer to an allstar level player.

The issue so far is my man cant finish. He is great as a Trent Jr. (wide open 3's only) but layups or floaters he has no chance. He also cant create his own 3, he needs a catch and shoot. Its early though.

I told you guys not to expect Maxey lol.

He’s way more similar to FVV than he is Maxey.
He’ll be fine once Poeltl returns and can set a proper screen. No one else on the team can set a good one. He’s still shooting at an elite clip from the 3 which bodes well.

He doesn’t have the handles or first step to be a Jamal Murray type guard, he’s essentially FVV with a floater package.

That's not really true though.

He's been good at pullup 3s. He's shooting 38% this year, he shot 35% last year and these are self created, lower % shots. And his floater game has been money over the couple seasons.

He just needs to be more selfish and take more.

His 2 pt shooting has been off but history says that will return to the norm. And again, people ignore that he has been able to play with a real C here so no screens, no pnr, no lob threat.

But look at the positives, for all the up and down games, his pts are up, 3 pt% is up, rebounds up, assists more than doubled.

Maybe certainly people's expectations were too high, but again, let's see how things play out when he....and the Raps....get to play with a real starting C....AND backup C....instead of Thad and a guy on a 2-way.

He has replaced OG offensively in all those scoring stats so far and certainly has more to give. Development isn't instant, or constant. Have some patience.

Lol for future reference...this guy just typed the following words:

"He's way more similar to FVV than maxey".

I don't know how this board will ultimately heal from it's troll invasion. Ppl are scared to express opinions because it's not worth the troll aggregation.

He’s trying too hard to be a PG which is admirable but we need him to be a scoring threat first, pass first second.

Also once Poeltl's back, he gets his PnR partner back which should help.

What's the possibility that Quick gets so pissed with team's lack of focus this year that he walks?

I think he'll figure it out the more he plays with Scottie.

We have two guys that you will be able to count on for 20+ ppg but will also make plays for others because of their skill and unselfishness. The just need to get calibrated so that when one is in point guard mode the other is in scoring mode.

Quickley and the team also need to get comfortable with him taking 8-10 above the break 3s like Darko wants.

For everyone who wants to get rid of Poeltl, I think it's been pretty clear how important he is to the team on both ends.

I mean yeah he is the highest paid Raptor after barrett now (and maybe Bruce Brown) . Of course you'd rather have him playing rather than not.

Is he worth the price of admission and his salary was always the topic not whether having a center was necessary.

IQ needs to show his speed and attack the paint at least show some similarities to Maxey.

Dennis seems much smaller but more willing to take physical contact.

Overall, I thought IQ would be a tougher guard. To me, he reminds me of Jamal Crawford. Nice scorer, but a little weak on FT and physicality. He should be way more assertive - there is no way he should be getting bullied by John Konchar.

The assists are up a lot since the trade which is nice to see. There's probably just a balance between scoring and playmaking he's learning to figure out right now. His advance metrics have been great his entire career, no reason to believe he's no longer a net positive player anymore just because of this small stretch. The bright side is if his numbers stay around here, that 25m number that was floated around is more realistic. If he had exploded for 25 a game on a bad team, the calculus becomes a lot more difficult to project in terms of real value.

There were a few instances yesterday where I thought he should have been shooting free throws but nothing was called. Overall I’m not worried just needs to adjust to his role.

Return to Toronto Raptors
